Tigerdirect corruption - invasion of privacy - unauthorized access to my computer through modem MiamiInternet Arizona
I purchased a computer from Systemax, "As Seen on TV", in November, 2000. Since that time I have received a number of calls, like weekly, sometimes multiple times. My caller ID on one phone just says "Out of Area". My other phone with a built-in caller ID shows (305) 415-2200.
One weekend I tried returning the call. The phone was answered by a message, Tiger Direct "executive" (I think) offices. If not that specific word, something similar, maybe "administrative".
When I answer before the third ring, it disconnects. It's like a modem calling my computer. Today I received such a call. I called the number, Tiger Dierct, and made a complaint about them accessing my computer. The lady put me on one of the "if you would like to" --- "push 1," etc.
I went completely through and was unable to talk to a person. I called again and finally found a human. A man came on. He asked for my order number. I told him I was looking through my paperwork. He said, "I can't hear you, please call back," and immediately hung up.
Why does Tiger Direct need to access my computer? I don't know where to report this or how to report. Isn't there a Cyber Patrol or something similar on the Internet?
I have never even been into a chat room. What do I do now? Any help or information would be appreciated. I don't have anything to hide except my bank account access, etc.
Thank you.
