Complaint Review: Time Talent Agency

Time Talent Agency Raquel Longley Portfolio Mill, Model Scam Houston, Texas

I am a model who had responded to an open casting call with Time Talent Agency about 5 months ago.  This agency had expressed that they wanted me.  This is where it all started...

First, I was asked to attend a photo shoot with one of their photographers, I believe his name was Simon Gentry.  I was asked to pay a few hundred dollars upfront to get my shots taken.  Needless to say, I complied.

After months had gone by, I still had not received my photos.  I had not received any contract.  I had not received any work.  And my photo was being used on their model portfolio listing my stats which were all wrong.  I was also offered to attend workshops of which I would have to pay more fees upfront.

After doing a bit of research online, I found out that real agencies do not require their models to pay for their own photo shoots upfront and typically collect from the model's first gig.  This agency took my money, threw me into a photo shoot with their photographer, and never contacted me again nor provided me any of the photos I had paid for.

After speaking with a few of their current models, we found out that nearly every model was scammed this same way and almost all of them do not receive work or photos.  This "agency" pushes 3 of their best models and just collects from the rest on their roster.

This is very disheartening and upsetting.

Final Notice

As mentioned before, agency staff and owner stand by continuing to state these are all false allegations.   Every aspect of business matters and they are addressed when possible.  All the accusations made towards TTA and personal slander from anonymous models are indicative of a disgruntled person.  This should definitely be settled legally versus virtual battle.  Professional agencies present contracts to photographers in order to protect image rights on test shoots, which is the one you refused to sign. We have email proof from several models and industry professionals to indicate opposite of the report above.  Final notice; TTA lawyer will be contacting you soon to put an end to this.

Hi, Raquel.

I was directed to this website by one of your models.  After reading through the complaint and your rebuttal, do you really feel it was wise to point the finger and claim that I wrote these complaints?

If you feel you are intimidating me in any manner, you are in for an awakening.  I'd be glad to settle your little nitpicking in court.  What I find very funny is that you, the agency owner, even found the time to take out of your day to worry about what others say about you.  Do you think you are the only agency/business to receive reports like this?  Legitimate agencies and businesses don't have the time to respond to every customer complaint as nobody can satisfy everybody.  Your defensive actions only show that you may have something to hide.

I'll tell the public why you pissed me off.

Initially, when the public found out I was working with you, at least a dozen individuals, photographers, and models (past and current), felt compelled to reach out to me via phone and Facebook and "warn" me about working with your agency stating that you were always late with payments (or never paid), that you used work from photographers (without contracts) and posted them on your website, and that you'd use people for their services only to be concerned with capitalizing for yourself.  I did not heed these warnings as I should have.

After I refused to sign the ridiculous contract you offered to me, you called me twice to lie and say that your model's parents were complaining that I was using their child's photos without their permission, when I had already received their permission via text or verbal.  One of those parents you mentioned was a realtor attempting to help me find a new home.  After apologizing to the parent for making them upset about the usage of their child's modeling photo (who is of legal age to make their own decisions anyhow), I was told that they never complained to you about using their child's photo in my own fashion portfolio.  You made me look like a fool.

From that point on, I took everything you said as a lie.  I did not trust you.  When people asked me what my experience was like working with you, I told them.  Letting others know how I felt about working with you and my thoughts on your "agency" is within my constitutional rights.

In regards to the e-mails you stated I sent out to your models, it was at the result of finding out by one of your models that they had received an e-mail from you stating that the reason why you did not provide them their photos after a couple of months was because I was late in providing them to you.  When I was forwarded this e-mail by your model, I reached out to the few individuals I shot under your direction to find out what was going on as this was an apparent lie.  Do you know that I have Dropbox upload and CD burn timestamps and dates that show proof of when you received the photos online and in person?

When I showed some of these models in question this information after they approached me, you ended up tainting your own reputation.  In addition, how could you lie and say that I did not provide you any of the photos in time when you were already using them on your website months prior?  This means you had them.  In addition, your beauty director, Marc H., only submitted payment to me after I provided him the CD of images from our second shoot.  As we all know, I was not paid for our first shoot (test shoot).

As an agency, you have a long way to go and a lot to learn.  I'd be happy to meet you in court and put you in your place.  The only individual you have working with you that has any sense is your beauty director, Marc H.  I never signed a contract with you and I owe you nothing.  I highly recommend you do not mention my name again.

False Allegations by Brian Styles Photography

#5REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, November 14, 2012

First of all, this is not a complaint from a model and were glad to know that since we value each one of them. After further investigation, we received proof that this report was written from a disgruntled photographer named Brian Styles. Heres the real story to this complaint

Brian Styles aka Brian Spencer, was hired for photography services and broke several agency policies regarding image rights and other terms of agreement. When we noticed his violation on images, we confronted him and he became very upset.  Brian Styles didnt like that agency was not approving of his unethical business practices, which is why we ended our working relationship. This is where it all started.

We had been warned by other industry professionals he was bad news, yet we gave him the benefit of the doubt and worked with him.  Brian started to contact the group of models he shot for us to bad mouth the agency on numerous occasions. Brian Styles claimed we were a portfolio mill agency doing model scams to make money. Thankfully, our loyal models informed us of this harassment since they got annoyed by his constant messages, so we made a formal email announcement to entire agency models stating we no longer worked with him. Once again, Brian let his short temper take over and was so upset that two days later he filed this report. He then filed another report with another false author name to disguise his real identity.  The proof of everything is in our favor.

We are a professional talent agency with zero tolerance for false allegations and slandering. We work with professional local and international clients, published photographers, and other established agencies in major markets. We have agency standards which are the comparable to other reputable model and talent agencies. The end goal is to get models prepared with the right marketing tools to get them paid bookings. This is how an agency is able to market models, with the right type of images displayed throughout comp cards, headshots, and website roster.

For those models we really want to represent, we give them the option to purchase a photo shoot with our photographers who know how to shoot the style our clients look for when casting models. If we feel models already have images that meet our standards, we accept them. We dont sell photo packages to everyone that walks through our door, but that would be the case if we were really a portfolio mill as Brian Styles claims we are.  As for upfront payment, its only major market agencies (like NYC) which give models the option to deduct fees from their first gig in order to pay for their portfolio, comp cards, etc.

Lastly, none of our models have been scammed by us. 95% of them have been booked with jobs that have more than reimbursed them on their initial investment. Some book more jobs than others, which is standard in this competitive industry. To learn more about us, follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook and see for yourself what were all about. Also, visit the link below and compare the model images with our agency roster. Most of the images Brian Styles used are without consent and are currently represented by Time Talent Agency. Neither the agency nor the models signed a release form to authorize use; therefore he is in violation of image rights. Visit bryanstylesphotography.com to see for yourself.

P.S. Its disappointing to see someone go to this extent just because they are upset that they didnt get the job. Our lawyer will contact him to stop this slandering.
