Had an appointment with Tim Currier, the owner of Green Home Energy Systems on Oct 3 to discuss installation of a metal roof on my home.  He did not show up and when I called, he said he had a car accident on the way.  He came the next day and after discussing and reaching an agreement a Contract was signed with Tim Currier the owner of Green Home Energy Systems to install a front door unit, build a small roof over the front door, remove and replace roof shingles with a DECRA steel roof system for $14,867 with a start date of 4 weeks from Oct 4, 2011, weather permiting.  Asked for half up front and the second half upon satisfactory completion of job.  Received email on Oct 6 that door unit with and sidelites was ordered on Oct 5 and would arrive before the roofing materials.   Tim Currier was non-responsive to emails regarding start date and eventually notified me via email on Nov. 4 to call him and that he had been trying to call me.  I had not received any calls from him all my phones record incoming calls so he was not being truthful.  I called and he said they were backed up because of the Oct 31 storm and would start the job Monday Nov. 14 between 7 and 8 AM.   Monday it rained causing a reschedule to Thursday Nov. 17 between 7 and 8 AM, but he told me the door had to be reordered because he had the wrong swing to it.  He said it would arrive in time for the job.  I stayed home from work waiting for them to arrive, by 8:30 no one was there.  I called a few times and left messages, I tried once more and Tim answered and asked if the crew was there and I said no.  He said he'd call me back and find out what was going on.  He never called back so by 10:00 I again called him and he said he hadn't gotten in touch with the crew and was checking the warehouse.  I've learned there is no warehouse, not even an office and his address in Bow is not where he lives, it's where he used to live and he now lives with his parents.  His office is his cell phone and laptop.  At 11:30 I called again and he said the crew leader had a car accident and was in the Hospital.  He was trying to get another crew who were finishing another job to see if they could start on the roof that afternoon.  I've learned he had only one crew.  He never called me, I always called him.  By 12:30 he said there was no way the other crew could come and that he'd let me know if they could make it the next day, Friday Nov. 18.  However, it rained and that was out.  He sent an email saying he would deduct $500 from the cost and they'd finish the door since it was to arrive with a finish kit that would have to be applied for the cherry wood color.  He also said he'd attach a letter indicating that was what he was going to do.  No letter was ever received as an attachment or otherwise.  He said they'd be there Tuesday, Nov. 22 and he'd let me know on Monday because of the weather.  Monday I emailed him at 7:30 Pm because I couldn't get in touch.  I wrote that the forecast was sunny with some coulds and that I hoped the roof would start the next day, Tuesday as planned.  He emailed and said they'd be there Tuesday Morning.  He sent another email and said my door was in that same night.  However by 8 AM no one was there and I called him, he said it was going to rain, I had been watching the weather and it was not going to rain and I told him that, he said I was wrong and kind of hung up on me.  At that point I was getting worried about the whole deal and called him back asking if this was some sort of scam with all the delays.  He said I was bothering him too much.  I received an email from him on Wednesday apologizing for his attitude and being short, he had a horrible morning.  He also said he was bring the materials over that night, the night before Thanksgiving.  He arrived in a U-Haul and unloaded the materials I asked where the door was and he said it was a custom unit so he didn't want to leave it out in the elements.  The crew showed up on Friday Nov. 28 and they were a wonderful group and did great work.  They knew nothing of a door or the small roof over the door.  I called Tim and asked where the door was and Tim said that another crew would install the door unit.  When I told the head of the crew he was surprised, but didn't say much.  The crew worked that Saturday and the head of the crew and one person showed up on Sunday for half a day.  On Monday I received an email from Tim that he was going to stop by on Tuesday and that the door unit had the wrong glass in it, so there would be a delay and he was sorry but that I'd be happy with everything in the end.  He did show up on Tuesday and the roof, including the part they built over the door was still being completed.  He asked me about payment and I told him that the contract was upon completion and satisfaction.  However, I had a feeling that he wouldn't pay the people who did such a good job so I agreed to pay the balance except for $1,000.  And that would be done on Wednesday when he returned and the roof was completed.  On Wednesday he arrived and I noticed that the small roof over the door was lacking some finish work.  Apparently he didn't get a metal bending machine in order to fit the aluminum around the bottom of the front in one nice piece so the crew had to borrow one which wasn't that great and left a very noticeable and uneven seam on the front.  Tim said they'd fix it when they installed the door.  He said the door would be arriving in 7 to 10 days.  He left and the crew thanked me for paying him since they hadn't been paid and with Christmas and families they were depending on Tim paying them.  Things just went downhill after they left.  The door unit never showed up, Tim didn't return emails or calls and his voice mail was always full.  I finally called the crew leader and he said he was glad I called and had I given Tim an out of state check because that's what Tim told him and he couldn't cash it because there were insufficient funds.  I finally spoke with Tim and he said the door would be in, but that I was again bothering him.  On Dec. 5 I emailed him asking if he was checking on the door, he didn't respond.  On Dec. 8 I again emailed him requesting an update.  He responded that he was away on a family emergency, a dealth in the family he later told me and he was driving back from Vermont and would check when he got back.  On Dec 14, he said the door was still shipping but it would be here the next day in time for installation on Saturday, Dec. 17.  Today is Dec. 17, yesterday I emailed and called with no response until I mentioned that perhaps I shouldn't have paid him and that I was disappointed in the whole deal.  He responded that a crew would be there in the morning.  I knew the crew that did the roof weren't working for him because he still hadn't paid them.  The crew leader left a message on my machine that he was seeking legal action against Tim and said he didn't think Tim had even ordered the door and that it wasn't worth it since the $1,000 that I held back didn't even cover the door and installation.  Today no one showed up between 7 and 8 so I called Tim, he didn't answer his phone until I hit the redial so many times that he finally did answer.  He said he'd call the crew and find out what was going on.  He never called so again we played the redial.  When he did finally answer again he said he hadn't gotten a response from the crew and he told me to take my meds .... imagine that ... nice thing to say to someone.  He also  said that I was bothering him, calling too much, sending too many emails.  Then he hung up on me.  At 8:30 this morning he sent me an email that he was on his way to his office, which doesn't exist and sending me a copy of the invoice for the door and when I see how much it is then I will relax a bit.  I've not heard from himi since.  I plan to take legal action on Monday morning.  Apparently I'm one of the lucky ones, I at least got my roof, but I could have had a much better experience and more then likely a better roof from a more reputable company.
