My family and I are still emotionally shaken by the blatant bait and switch tactics used by this business. My wife and I have been in sales for a combined 50+ yrs and have seen a lot of things done, but I think it is a crime to make money off of selling a certain service, getting you to commit and then at the last moment changing gears after collecting a deposit and keeping it after the customer is clearly not satisfied and or fulfilled.

My job relocated me from Virginia Beach, Va. to Orange County, Ca. last Nov. 2011. My wife and I researched transportation options for our beloved 2 dogs and decided to give TLC a try. The owner Gale Lang was "as sweet as pie" stating she would be very accommodating to our needs providing 2 drivers and a private van since our dogs are 100lbs each and are aggressive towards other animals. Gale continuously stated this would be no problem providing we give her 30 days notice. I stated to her that we would give her as much time as we could as this was a corporate relo and involved the selling of a home on one coast and acquiring a home on the other.

I made that initial call to Gale in Feb 2012, and as we got closer to the move happening I periodically called to state we were still interested and I could be more accurate when we sold our property and set dates with the movers. As we got within the 30 days I called Gale to book and at that time she told me she could only provide 1 driver who would be a new female she just hired, and thats the best she could do. I felt taken at the time and expressed my concern to Gale, so she said "I will see what I can do" but will need a $100 deposit to book the drivers. I sent in $100 as we felt we were to far in to change plans. Once we locked dates with movers we had our dogs in a kennel trying to coordinate a date with Gale that would work with our flying back out west and getting our dogs their new home. Gale could not accommodate a date that worked so we ended up flying back east to pick up our dogs and personally driving 3000 miles in a rented minivan ourselves as we were out of options and dogs had been in a kennel over 3 weeks. This cost us countless money over-budget, and lost time at work to accommodate kennel and unexpected trip across the country. Gale not only did not provide a service but was completely "inconsiderate" of our needs at a very stressful time in our lives. What some companies will do for $100!!

I am truly embarassed that a company "TLC Transport" Gail Lang owner would go out of her way to dispute a customers experience and disatisfaction!! Instead of apologizing and servicing her customers Gail continually takes a "The owner is always right" stance. I feel sorry for the other families in the USA who will be subjected to this type of service in America. I know this is not indicative of most companies and only wish Gail has learned from her mistakes. I will end my responses by saying we forgive her and "God Bless You"!!

Mr. Churchill first contacted us on May 20th, 2012. He was sent a quote on May 21, 2012 on our TLC letterhead. The quote contained the cost and detailed information about the transport. He accepted. And after many telephone conversations, decided on a transport date of August 23rd, 2012

We received his $100 deposit on August 3, 2012. The purpose of this deposit is to save a transport date and driver which now cannot be used by any other customer also needing that slot of time. In Mr. Churchill’s case, this was an 8 day period of time and 2 of my drivers. So TLC committed that 8 day period and 2 drivers to Mr. Churchill’s pet transport because of this deposit. And all other customers requesting that time slot were turned away.

TLC is a very busy company. And a reservation of 8 days and 2 drivers is a major commitment. I truly need to utilize the time of all my drivers. And especially the ones that were on hold for him.  All of his paperwork had been emailed out to him. And his transport was set to go. After the transport was completely set up, Mr. Churchill cancelled his transport for the August 23rd date saying they were not ready and said he would get back with me. He got back to me on Oct 7th asking for his deposit back, telling me he did the transport himself. I emailed him back stating that deposits are non refundable upon transport cancellation.

I let my customers reschedule with no penalty, as would have been the case for him. But when they completely cancel a transport that has been reserved for them, the deposit is non refundable. And this is stated clearly and printed on my website's SCHEDULES PAGE.
It says (quote): “PAYMENT AND BOOKING PROCEDURES. A $100 deposit is required to book your dates for Pet Transport. This can be done using a credit card. This deposit is non refundable upon cancellation. You are free to reschedule if the need arises with no penalty.”
This is not only stated on my website for all potential customers to read, it is also written out on the Terms & Conditions form that my customers sign before transport begins.

I truly fail to see how this is in any way a "bait and switch tactic" I use to get my customer’s money.

I went above and beyond working with Mr. Churchill on a transport for his dogs. We started conversing back in May all the way through August. And now, out of the blue, this!! The things he stated about my company are just not true. And it is a mean spirited action on his part to try and ruin the reputation of a very well respected and trusted 12 year old company that is well known throughout the USA.

Everything I have stated in this email to you is the truth and all dates and conversations can be documented by previous correspondence between Mr. Churchill and myself.

Sincerely, Gale Lang, owner of TLC Pet Transport, Inc
