I wrote this letter to the manager of Tommy Guns hair salon in December last year. Since sending this letter I have not received either a refund or any sort of compensation for what I went through. I have not even received an apology from the salon.

For the attention of Russell Manly

I am writing to complain about the appalling service I received in your salon on 26 November 2005. The failings of your staff served to cause immense stress on my wedding day.

My appointment was to have my hair done in an up do for my wedding and was made several weeks in advance. When making the appointment, I clearly stated that the booking was for a wedding and the style I required. The appointment was made for 3:30pm to allow plenty of time to get the result right.

Despite arriving at your salon 10 minutes late, I was kept waiting for over 15 minutes before seeing the stylist, Chi. This was followed by 45 minutes of blow drying with no explanation for the first half hour.

It was finally explained to me that an assistant had been sent out to buy hair pins and elastics. It is hard to believe that an up-market hair salon would not have such basic items, especially when I had informed the receptionist of my requirements at the time of booking.

I had explicitly asked Chi to give me a French Roll. I have enclosed a picture from the wedding and I am sure you will agree that the style does not come close to a French Roll. It looked more like a poorly styled bun that was rapidly falling apart.

I left the salon stressed, in tears, and without sufficient time to dress for the wedding. This was the most important day of my life and I spent the first few hours of the evening upset and feeling that I did not look my best.

I would like to be compensated for the damage done to my wedding day by the numerous errors made by your staff. Although it will in no way make up for my distress, I plan to recreate the wedding photos with my hair done as originally intended. I would appreciate if you could refund my money and give me extra compensation that I can use for the added expense of extra photos.

I trust that you will be prepared to send me compensation and allow me to avoid the further stress of pursuing this matter via more formal means.

No need to check my IP, I am proud to say I am from the United States...But Anyhow...
Why did you avoid sending a picture to this site of this castrophe? That way we can see if this is as bad as you claim.
Cheers!

Yet again

Yet again if you had read my report properly then you would have noticed that being 10 minutes late made no difference to the stylist. I called ahead to tell them I would be 10 minutes late and was still kept waiting. I do not expect that the receptionist would know a french roll from a french braid but I do expect that he would note that I was having my hair done for my wedding.

I also did not have the luxury of complaining to the stylist to fix my hair because the munter had already kept me in the chair for 45 BLOWING MY HAIR. Firstly you do not wash and dry somebody's hair when they are having an updo and secondly medium length hair does not take 45 minute to dry. I left the salon at 5:20 and had to be at my wedding at 6. How could I have had him fix it? You tell me.

Yes I do expect that they would refund my money and contribute toward my new photos. After all they are the ones who ruined my pictures. And again if you had read my report then you would see they couldn't even muster up an apology.

I am wondering why an American with broken English would be trawling through the rip off report and rebutting compliants about Tommy Guns? Shall we have the admin check your IP? I am guessing that it is an English one....

Yes, you may have still been late for the wedding, but if you would have not been 10 minutes late, that would have been 10 minutes earlier you would have been there. You may have had to wait an additional amount of time after you got ther, because she assumed you were a no-show, and went ahead and took someone else. They couldnt lose money by waiting, I am sure you understand.

I am sure you didnt arrive at your wedding destination the same day as your wedding? If you did not, then why didnt you go to the salon and have them style your hair and make sure you wanted to commit yourself to salon you had not used for this type of occasion before commiting to them.

Brides usually have several fittings of their gown to ensure the perfect fit,why would your hair be any different?

I also hope that the "crying" you said you did was merely an exaggeration you did for the letter for the hair salon. And I surely hope that you didn't actually believe the hair salon will refund your money AND pay for you to do new pictures to "recreate" your wedding because of your hairstyle? Surely the beauty of the day wasnt shadowed by a bun instead of a french roll?

Also, I know you told the receptionist your requests at your booking, but a receptionist is not a hairstylist, and probebly had no clue of the style you were inquiring.

Did you know some french rolls have to have weave put in them, even with long hair?
If the stylist had not met you before, did you know that the hair pins have to be same color as your hair in most styles?

If you would have done a test run the day before, all of those problems would have disappeared.

If you didnt like the style, you could have expressed your displeasure to the stylist and seen if she could have fixed it, or found someone else to make you happy.

PS~ If the hairstyle is truly so horrible and you want the world to know, I would suggest you just photoshop your face out of the pic and show the pic of your horrible do.

Take Care

Maybe if you had read my complaint properly you would then see that even if I had arrived 2 hours earlier the outcome would have been the same. The salon was not prepared, did not note that I was having an updo for my wedding, had no pins or elastics and the list goes on.

I have plenty of pictures of my bad hair. This was of course my wedding day and people tend to take pictures on the most important day of thier life but I am not willing to publish pictures of myself on the internet.

I am sure that many brides do have test runs before the wedding. Unfortunately, I was only in London for one week and did not have the luxury of spending hours at a salon in the run up to my wedding.

The point is that this salon left much to be desired. My hair was done badly not because I was 10 minutes late but because the staff were not competent to do even a simple updo, even though I had specifically told them what I needed done when I booked my appointment weeks in advance.

I still have not recieved an apology or compensation of any kind.

Perhalps if you had not been 10 minutes late for your appoimtmrnt, that would have 10 minutes earlier you would had arrived at your wedding.
Do you have pictures of this bad hairstyle?

Did you go and do a practice run before the wedding? Most brides do, and this saves them a ton of suprise on their big day.
