Our Kenmore vacuum is about 8-10 years old and was very hard to push. It also didn't smell very nice due to vacuuming up pet hair for years. I took it into Top's in Bradenton, Fla. and was met by the owner (I didn't know he was the owner at the time but thought he was the manager). He seemed very honest and was very professional.

He plugged in my vacuum and proceeded to vacuum for a few seconds. He immediately told me that the repair could cost up to $100. He then quickly showed me a few new models saying that he was backlogged on repairs and it really wouldn't be worth his time to repair it, suggesting a new model instead.

While showing me the new models (2) he immediately dropped the price without me even asking. He then dropped it again and said that's the lowest he could go again without me asking. I had to leave to pick up my wife. The two of us went back to Top's less than a hour later to look at the new vacuums again, believing that we really did need a new one.

This time a very young guy came to help us and pressured us to buy one, the more expensive of the two. We told him we needed to look at our budget and he proceeded to put heavy pressure on us to buy right now. He was very unprofessional and didn't even know the product. We left again to think more on this purchase.

I decided to have it checked somewhere else and learned that my vacuum needed a new belt ($3) and a new filter. I bought and installed both myself for under $20, and in less than 15 minutes. I have never worked on a vacuum in my life and I am not the handyman type which shows just how minor this repair was.

Clearly Top's is trying to sell new vacuums to people who don't really need new vacuums.

Think twice before going into Top's and be on your guard if you do.
