Topaz Promotions, LLC AKA Yellow Pages Online Services AKA Ypedia Deceiving Small Businesses asking to "verify your information" for "free" listing Texas, Internet
This company, claiming to be "Yellow Pages Online Services" contacted us with a form that read: THIS IS NOT A BILL and stated "Verify Your Local Listing Information Below." The form deceptively said that the information is "Free with verified listing" and I filled out the information and sent it in to "verify."
A few weeks later on 4/25/14 my company received a bill for $327.80 for our listing on ypedia.com, a completely unrelated, unheard of website that was never mentioned on the original form. I called the company twice in May 2014 and both times I got sent to voicemail.
I ignored the scam and got sent a second bill on 7/3/14 saying that it would go to collections if I did not pay by 8/7/14. I called them persistently and finally got through to speak with someone. I explained that I never authorized this, they had deceived me into thinking it was a free online listing with the real yellow pages, and that I wanted my account cancelled, my listing taken down immediately, and all charges cleared. They refused to do this. They would not even take down my listing, even though I asked over and over again (the listing is still up today!). I asked to speak with the manager and he refused to put me through. He said that if I did not pay he would send it to collections and that was my only option.
I obviously did not pay for this scam, and now I am receiving calls from a collection agency. They are now threatening me that it will go to court, but I can settle if I want for 50% of the amount due. I told them the same thing, that I want my listing removed, my account cancelled, the charges removed, and they refuse. They are also threatening that they will file it as a bad debt against my company if I do not pay.
If you receive any mail from "Yellow Pages Online Services", even though it says "FREE" everywhere, do not respond! This company is a complete scam. I've also filed a complaint with the BBB and I am hoping to bring companies together to put them out of business. Reply to this thread if you've been scammed by them and want to join the fight.

Yellow Pages Online Services stole the real YP logo, and sent me a "verify your listing" (like other free on-line listing companies) so i signed it. Now I am getting bills and "late fees" and warning emails. I had verified with the real yellow pages that my listing is free forever. I am willing to join a class-action suit if my credit score is affected. I still refuse to pay this bill since I never *initiated* contact with this company.
