I was 21 in 2001, just married, looking for a car. I had the company car for a long time and I needed to buy a car. I've been a fan of Toyota because of quality so the only car I had in mind was Toyota. Just as a typical customer I went to look at a car, it wasn't long before I was tracked down by a salesman. I had no experience buying a car, I only had a hand down car from a family member before. We tried to get approve for a new corolla but I had zero credit and so did my wife. So we went on looking at a used corolla. I notice that they had sales tags. We took one for a spin and felt interested. Then came paperwork. They asked me how much can I afford...blah blah blah...

We then made a deal for over $300.00 a month almost $320.00. I made a $1,000.00 down payment. I rode home feeling comfortable in my new used car fully cleaned and waxed. It was almost after I awaken the next day that I felt like I got conned. I met my coworker who had a 1999 corolla (mine is 1998 model and this was in 2001.) She told me that her car payment is approximately $269.00 a month, and my car is older with a payment over $300.00 a month. It was then that I did my research and felt really disgusted. I remember many questions that the saleman had asked me and I still see him at times when I go to the service center for car service. He's marked for life and if I had the chance I'd slap his bald head etc....but to think of it the only person who should've been slapped is me.

Since then all salemen became my enemies. Nothing but conners. I would definitely encourage all consumers to check out "Confessions of a Car Salesman Editors, I forwarded that site to many I know and saved $$$. Now it's 2004, I still have two more years to go, my pay off is still over $7,000.00 and the sale price I purchased the car for at the time $9,999.00. Crazy huh? I was thinking about trading my car in... I even remember the following year after I purchased my car I was servicing my car for oil change, in the mean time I was looking at the new vehicles and I saw the bald headed guy who sold me the car, I asked him should I trade my car in, "You don't want to do that, your cars running fine," he said.

I went home sleeping on it, realized to do that would cost even more $ 'cause of the money I still owe. UGH! I know that he was doing what he do best but to rip off the uneducated, unfortunate people, how sad. The best thing and only thing I can do now is bite my tongue 'cause if I see him, I might end up doing something illegal, and thats another story but I won't go there. The only message I have for all is to educate yourself, check out "Confessions of a Car Saleman," knowledge is power, he had it when he sold me it. I'm still paying the price today....Oh, and it's funny how they have this commercial at the ending a guy says, "We only want to help," WHATEVER!
