Complaint Review: Toshiba

Toshiba America Purchased laptop. Defective. Screen blanks out. Refused to replace. Extended warranty. Service stations shut down. Internet

I bought a Toshiba satellite laptop in 2005 Nov from Office Depot in fremont, california. The machine had hardware issues pretty much soon after purchase. Filing a complaint was excruciating with over 1 hr of wait time each time. After persisting with them they only offered to extend my warranty but refused to replace the machine. There is no service center in my state of residence - Wisconsin. There was one when I bought the machine - and it was shut down later. I have had over 5 major repairs thus far for problems with the screen, internal wiring , adapter, wireless card etc. All this info is on record with Toshiba.

Resolution Sought

I believe I got a damaged piece to start with. This is why Toshiba gave me a new warranty. I am however stuck with a machine that keeps having problems and I have no service center in Madison, WI. I still have 1 year of warranty left but would like a replacement.
I reported to BBB - but Toshiba did not provide any remedy. They told me that they would not provide any remedy. Take the extended warranty (which is worthless) or get nothing - was their response.
I had to buy a new IBM laptop - since I am a Masters student, and need it everyday.

I understand that this problem is pretty chronic with the Toshiba machines, and see several other blogs with similar issues.
