Problem:
we have contacted Toshiba 2 times , about a small defect with our portable dvd player we purchased in 11,24,07 we called in December and they refused us an exchange for the product even though it stated in there booklet I received with the product that I would be eligible for a product exchange within 3 months of purchase. they did not honor this and instead gave me a number for a repair center , in Pembroke , Ontario.

I called the repair center in Pembroke and they advised me to call back to Toshiba because they do not deal with portable dvd players. I am in the canadian forces and preparing to deploy for Afghanistan , and at the time this was going on I had allot of training that gave me little time to deal with this during there hours of business.

I called back today , Tue, mar, 25 2008 , still within my warranty and i get the same runaround , I do understand that i am no longer eligible for the 3 months exchange that they did not honor , i explained my situation once again and was told that the only way to do anything was for me to take the unit to Mississauga, Ontario or scarborough, Ontario both facilities would be approx 6h drive to get to , the person i spoke to said all the supervisors were at a meeting and refused to put one on the phone.

when I told him i would be filing a complaint he told me I should , I do not have the money to pay to have it shipped to be repaired and I don't feel like I should have to pay , while other companies like HP , DELL etc have effective exchange/repair/warranty programs in place that they honor Toshiba does not want to comply with there OWN written warranty.

I feel like the little guy in this case and there is not much i can do without spending my own money to get it fixed. the problem with the dvd player is small and yet such a big fight to get it fixed. it seems to be a common issue with this type of portable dvd player to but Toshiba will not recognise there fault and could care less about it.
