Faulty light engine, designed to fail. Importance to physically supporting all lenses within the light engine can be noted in detail when viewing this design. However, the heaviest piece of glass a double prism is just glued on. Due to the high heat environment it is just a matter of time before this heavy piece of glass falls off on virtually all the sets containing this flaw. This will be viewed as a Black line on the top of the screen with a soft focused picture or a crooked picture that has fallen to the right and has become very fuzzy.

The Talon light engine on my 1996, 57" 56mx195 started failing at almost exactly one year. I was without the TV for over one month of the first year because, after about two weeks the light bulb failed and it took them that long to get me a new one.

Also, light bulbs seem to fail at about every 6-12 months NOT 3 years. I'm on the third one already.
