Toshiba Toshiba laptops: inferior quality, deplorable customer service Irvine, California

The hard drive of my Satellite M645 failed after less than two months of careful use. It took three calls to reach a supervisor who could make decisions (the first was an employee whose English was barely
intelligible). Even that was useless since she promised to send and email with information I needed to receive a shipping box and she didn't send it. I had to make two additional calls.

The inflexible and uncaring response: wait for an email with instructions. After I reply, they will send a box to ship the laptop; this will take 3 5 business days. It will take 7 10 business days to repair or replace the hard drive. Then they will send the laptop back to me. Total time: about three weeks. (Aren't we in the 21st century?). Absolutely no refunds and no way to expedite the lengthy process or find a viable solution that would prevent me from being without an essential work tool for three weeks. One of the employees I talked to acknowledged that they have had many problems with Toshiba hard drives.

This is the first Toshiba laptop I have purchased and now I regret it. It will definitely be the last Toshiba product I buy. The quality of the product is inferior and their customer service is deplorable. 

The bottom line: do NOT buy a Toshiba Satellite laptop.

The turnaround time is excessive but this is not a rip off.
