Purchased a Toshiba Satellite S55 Laptop i7-4700M a few days ago.

When we opened the box everything seemed fine until we inspected the power supply.  The plastic box housing the power supply had not been properly sealed during manufacture.  I called Costco Concierge who connected me to Toshiba after she could get nowhere with them.  I was passed up through 3 levels to a supervisor's supervisor.  He claimed that since the transformer was "physically damaged" they would not warranty the item.  I explained and he acknowledged that the problem was at the factory since it came in an undamaged, sealed, factory box, but that it was still classified as damage rather than a manufacturing defect.  He continued with an example if a laptop arrived with a bad keyboard, that, too, would be classified as damage rather than a defect, and that damage was not covered.  For him, any manufacturing defect would be classified as damage and would not be covered.  I can only assume that he believed that manufacturing defects were not possible.  I had issues with a Vista-based Toshiba laptop several years ago (Toshiba blamed Microsoft and Microsoft blamed Toshiba) and they would not warranty a new laptop that would lose all information and couldn't be restarted if it was allowed to hibernate).  After speaking with, and experiencing the attitude of this "supervisor", I'm at an end with Toshiba.  I shall return the item to Costco (at least they stand behind their warranties) and buy something other than a Toshiba.
