Total Home Protection/Service Plus Warranty Covers little and pays even less on a claim Edison New Jersey
My oil furnace recently needed repair. The total of the bill was $500. The service call was $80 and the 1/2 hour labor was $40. I was required to pay $45 of the above, my share of the service call fee, which left $75 for Service Plus to reimburse me for and then add to this the cost of the repair part which was $380. This plus the $75 comes to a total of $455. Service Plus told the technician that my claim was covered. I paid the entire bill of $500 and now Service Plus has told me by phone that they are only going to reimburse me $105 instead of $455. They claim the cost of the part, the $380 was too much.
So if they are reimbursing me for the $75 left oweing on the labor and service call, then that only leaves $30 to be applied to the cost of the $380 for the part, the Ignition Transformer. It's supposed to be covered. That means they're only paying $30 towards the part and I have paid $350.
Service Plus does not provide the coverage they claim. I followed all the rules and had my furnace serviced early in the fall and the breakdown was due to normal wear and tear.
I wouldn't advise anyone to purchase a home warranty from Service Plus.
