On September 23,2006 my brother Thomas Scott Pack went to work at Total Petrochemical plant in Jefferson County Texas. He was a contractor working for ASI Piping. There was a shutdown going on at this facility. At about 12 noon his crew went down the scaffold to take a break. My brother stayed and worked on losing some bolts. It was then that my brother inhaled some type of harsh chemical from the air. He could not breath and was rushed to the control room and given oxygen. Scott told me that a Total Petro employee screamed "I told you SOBS not to be off gassing when work was going on in the area."

Two days later Scott was told he had chemical pneumonia. He was transfered to Galveston UTMD on Tuesday September 26. Galveston UTMD did NOTHING for him. My brother was 44 never had any breathing problems and would always help anyone in need passed away at UTMD on Friday September 29,2006 as a direct result of working at Total Petrochemical.

The plant says they did nothing wrong and no one else got sick that day so everything is okay. The facts are they were venting all kinds of chemicals that day as seen on the TECQ web page.

OSHA investigates and also does NOTHING as expected. This was a great unjust by this facility and ASI Piping.
