RIP-OFF?!?!?

I hope not.

However, from what I'm hearing, that's exactly what "Tower of Power Sales" is ALL about!

A kid came to my door to sell magazines. I thought it was fine, since I had to do the same kind of thing when I was in junior high school and it sucked! I sort of wanted to subscribe to this weekly magazine anyway and figured I'd help this guy out with his "trip to Europe" that he was going to win if he did win this "contest" to sell the most magazines and get the most points.

SO, like an idiot (believe it or not, I'd never heard of these types of scams...) I shelled out $2.00 in cash (because that was all I had and he told me that he gets more points if people pay in cash!) and gave him a check for $93.00! That was $93.00!!!!! I took my receipt and went about the rest of my evening.

However, I should have listened to my gutt feeling when he came around. He was skeevy and I felt like something was amiss. ESPECIALLY when he started flirting with me, etc, etc...

Now, I am $95.00 in the hole (that is a LARGE amount of money for me, by the way!) and I have NOTHING to show for it! I went online to check this thing out, because I still hadn't received my magazine and found out it's a scam!

I am HOPING that maybe I'll still get it because another complaint report stated that you get it if you pay by check, but not if you pay by cash. Anyway, it really made me feel terrible and I'm so unbelievably pi$$ed at myself for falling for such a stupid scam. I know that next time around I will do my homework!!!!
