In March 2001, I began proceedings to purchase a home at Lantern Keys, Lake Worth FL. Town and Country Builders first began by giving me an incompetent morgage broker, Ivanhoe Financial who failed to provide me with pertinent information prior to closing.

Since I was living in NY at the time, I came to FL with the intention to close on a home, but was told I can't close at that time due to incorrect information by Ivanhoe. I was delayed in closing until 10/30/02 where I was charged the sum of $700.00 for not closing on time.

At the walk-thru, I was told by the consturction supervisor, "Shane" "whatever is incomplete today will be completed before closing" which as of today, 12/13/02, is still incomplete. The base board was missing in the kitchen, there was grout stains and cracks on tiles and carpet; leaks in the sinks and bathroom; walls were not painted, the stickers were left the same place after the walk-thru; the garage door was not closing fully; different shades of paint was used on the walls and cabinets; the attic door was left open with debris falling to carpet; cracks in walls inside and outside of home.

I, am to this day, still waiting for the builders to complete the work that they started on the house. I have been in contact with "Lucille" at the corporate office, who has been giving me the run around with a lot of attitude. They would send workers to start work today and would they wouldn't return to complete the work.

In a letter dated 11/26/02, sent to Consumer Affairs regarding the issue I was informed that since "Palm Beach County sets the measuring stick of the certificate of occupancy for when the property is habitable by a purchaser, they feel that the house is habitable and the builder has met the measuring stick for habitability and they are not responsible for items that may be created by others"

Town and Country Builders are ripoff and should not be allowed to continue to victimize individuals wanting to have a home and a piece of "The American Pie"
