I had been looking on line for a decent, used 3500 Dually and came across one listed with Town & County (TC).  The pictures or stats didn't offer too much but enough to get my interest up.  I contacted TC and spoke with Derek.  He was a very energetic salesman who was going the extra mile to answer my questions...and I had a whole list of questions as I've been looking for almost a month and have narrowed my search down to a select few models.

He inspected the truck while I was on the phone with him, stating the interior was in "perfect" condition.  He started the motor and commented how smooth it sounded.  He further continued with a walk around the vehicle, commenting on its great condition.  I appreciated his taking the time to perform this inspection as I was almost 3-hrs driving distance away.

Initially I decided to wait until the weekend (I spoke to him on a Tuesday, last day of the month) in lieu of driving that far during the weekday.  He and his manager offered to reduce the price if I made the drive that evening.  I fully understand trying to meet an end of the month quota and bonuses.  Well, the carrot worked and I made the arduous drive through rush hour traffic and endless construction zones on Hwy 65.

What I found was not what I expected, at all!  The interior had several issues...like a headliner falling down, lumbar that didn't work, interior door lights and reflectors completely missing - just empty spaces, and a perfectly round 5-gallon bucket sized oil stain leached into the rear leather seat.  The exterior had its own issues...tailgate wouldn't close (thumped during the test drive), rear tail light covers were loose, driver headlight loose, missing and broken lug nuts on at least 2 wheels (gave up checking the other wheels at this point), rubber bumper guard below chrome front bumper was cracked and barely hanging on, windshield had a small crack that they filled but was obvious, and the front end had a "noise" when you turned.

I'm  familiar with buying a used vehicle and did not expect it to be...well, let's use his word, "perfect"..but I also did not expect it to be trashed.  And that's exactly what this vehicle was, trashed. It was a complete waste of my time and gas.  I am more dismayed at Derek's lack of honesty in his claims of the condition of the truck and disreguard of the inconvenience of my driving almost 3 hours to look at a vehicle that was far, far from "perfect".  Heck, it's not even in good condition.

Don't know if I learned a lesson here because I still have faith there are honest salespeople, just not at Town and Country.
