Back in December, Toynami, Inc. advertised a collectible Robotech item called the "Robotech Masterpiece Collection." The said item was advertised as having approximately 33% die cast content. Making the item durable and very collectible! The proposed date of release was march for all those who pre-ordered the item.

March came and there were supposedly manufacturing problems, so the date of release was shifted to sometime in early April. Once April came it was shifted to May then a few days later changed to June.

When June 19th came, the item we pre-ordered arrived in the mail. Upon opening the item it was almost all plastic! The only metal content on it anywhere where perhaps the screws and a few hinges! Upon most of the consumers being upset over this and reporting their concerns in the forums of http://www/robotech.com a representative from Toynami, who uses the name "Toynami Info Guy" Admitted they cut corners in the die cast content to get the product out on time! Yet he double talked his way through the excuse by saying the company itself bit the bullet for us!

I do not understand how an advertised item with 33% die cast metal can be worth $80 - then six months down the road you find out you paid for plastic only and the company "bit the bullet!"

They still charged us $80 for the all plastic item and have to date not offered to refund anything! Not bad enough? TIG has mentioned in those forums that by the time the third in the series comes out, it will be up to specs of the advertisement!

I suggest you do not buy anything with the logos "Toynami," "Robotech," or "Harmony Gold" on them as they are all involved in the licensing of this product and are not doing anything to refund the consumer!

I reported this fraud to the bbb. Toynami's rebuttal was a lie stating I didn't purchase the product. Apparently now the bbb has dropped the case and I am still stuck with an $80 piece of junk!

Respond to this Report!
