Toyota Extended Warranty Rip-off Torrance, California
I bought a Toyota Corolla on 12-26-08. It was advertised with a 3-year/30,000 miles warranty, but I purchased the extended warranty to cover an additional 4-year-40,000 on December 26, 2008. The Finance Manager claimed he was not on commission and that he would not profit from the sale. I was also told I could cancel at any point.
After I had difficulties with my dealer, Koons Arlington, I canceled the prepaid maintenance agreement on 12-29-10. After I was told of the early termination fee for canceling the prepaid maintenance, I decided to cancel the extended warranty. I have made no claims against the warranty or roadside assistance. According to the contract any claims could be recovered by the company. Therefore, I have received no consideration for the $396 Toyota refuses to refund.
I sent a letter to Toyota on 2-28-11. A customer service agent called to advise me to file a complaint against Koons. Koons has resolved the prepaid maintenance fees for the Maintenance Agreement and says the extended warranty is a Toyota Policy. Given all the bad publicity Toyota has received, I would think customer satisfaction would be a priority. It makes no sense for Toyota to spend million advertising for new customers and then treat them so poorly.
