A month after purchasing my Tracfone, voice mail and text messaging stopped working. Three calls to customer service (it might be better if I was fluent in Spanish as none of their representatives are fluent in English!) my tone getting louder each call and they finally got the voice mail working. Text messaging still did not work (though the phone dutifully deducted 0.3 units each attempt!) Two more calls before I was told that text messaging was not available in this area. Funny...a few weeks ago, I was surprised to find that I had a text message on my phone from who? Tracfone! They were advertising some special they had going on. Two days later, another text message for the same thing. I tried to send a text message and it failed (deducting more units in the process!)

I was in the Washington, DC/Baltimore area on business and just out of curiousity, I tried text messaging again (since I was in a major metropolitan area, it should work, right? WRONG!) Same thing. It seems that though Tracfone proudly touts text messaging on their equipment, it doesn't work! I think that is called false and deceptive advertising!

After my previous experience with their so-called customer service (as others have pointed out, you get the "updating your records" or "checking with my supervisor" BS about 20 times per call,) I have simply filed a complaint with the Florida State Attorney General's office. I hope they investigate this bogus company and slap them with a stiff fine or two!
