I specified Trane Airconditioners because of prior experience with their product. My decision was a big mistake. From the first week of operation it was noisy and sounded like a loose or vibrating fan. Two service calls to installer found nothing wrong. Less then two years after start-up on a new home one of the air conditioners stopped working.
Still under warranty, I thought, so I called the main number for customer service. They referred me to an Lake Havasu Arizona "independent dealer" who declined to service my unit across the river because I was in California. Another call to Trane. Different Dealer this time. Service person will not come out without payment of $78.00 to look at the unit, still under warranty. He discovers manufacturing defect, pipes rubbing and resulting in a hole in copper line. Parts are under the warranty, about a $1.01 amount of solder. Labor to repair defective product from the start, $800.00 but that included coolant.
Five telephone calls to Trane Representative, Waye 909 517-3668 refers me to Arizona customer representative Dan Harden, he lacked any desire to help and kissed me off to another Trane representative in Tyler, Texas, Nicole Fields, 903 581-3660. Ms. Fields is too busy to accept telephone calls and apparently does not have time to call anybody back.
Wish I would have read all the reports about Trane on this website before I made my purchase and I hope this will help somebody else who might be thinking about purchasing a Trane product - DON'T. Warranty is useless.
