I wasn't able to figure out much on this as of yet but here is the information I have. My wife and I use Sprint/nextel and on 1-30-08 at about 7pm central time I got a call from this number: 442074287043. I know its not like a regular number here in the states. When I answered it was an auto response telling me that my vehicle warranty was about to expire or had already expired and that I should press 1 for assistance. I have signed my wife and I both up on the DO NOT CALL registry so I wanted to try and find out what company was violating the law so I pressed 1. A male operator came on shortly and asked for the make and model of my vehicle. At that time I was a little annoyed so I told him that I wanted to know the name of the company that he worked for and was promptly hung up on.

Today the same thing happened to my wife. I was nearby when the call came through and asked her for her phone. When the live operator came on and asked for the make and model of her vehicle I acted like I was interested and was able to aske her what company she worked for and she replied hesitantly "Trans America" once she realized what I was doing she too hung up on me.

I tried to call the company back by the number that was on my wife's phone but it wouldn't go through. This is a scam of sorts and I just wanted people to know and not get caught.
