I was in the market for a used car. My daughter needed a car, so I started looking on Craigslist. I found an ad for a 1999 Chrysler Sebring, listed for $2500. I called and made appt to see it.

When I looked at it, it was night time. But it looked ok. I test drove it and it seemed to drive ok. I normally take cars on interstate to test drive but this time I didnt, because of location.

I told owner/dealer I would buy the car for $1600. He said he could only go to $1800. I said ok. And that I would be baxk in 2 days with money. I left him a $500 check.

When I checked it out, radio was not working. He said it just went out when he changed a battery cable. So its probably a fuse or something.  But it worked and sounded very good beforehand.

So I came back in 2 days and paid for car,, at his house. When I first test drove it I did so at his house as well. I didnt know he was a dealer until I picked car up. I should have walked away then. Since he was misleading. Making it kook like he was just a private owner selling a car.

When I was driving home on interstate, it started growling and vibrating very loud as soon as I git up to 55 mph and higher. I called him and he said dont worry, its just the tires. Which I did know it needed tires shen I looked at it.

So next day I took to a garage to have checked out. Yes it needed tires. But also to half shafts and all 4ball joints and alligned. So it cost me another $1600 to do repairs.I never would have bought the car from him had I known this. Plus after fixing I pulled out the radio to see what was wrong. He lied about that as well, because the radio had no wires connected to it at all. It was just installed to fill the radio hole.

Long story short---buyer beware. You are buying a used car as is. I should have checked it out more thoughroly. As soon as I knew he misled me about being a dealer I should have run away fast.

I put this out there so that anyone else in the Omaha area is looking for acar on Craigslist under cars for sale by owner, will not get ripped off like I did.

I wrote original complaint onthis site. I have since spoke with the owner and have found out that the gentleman I bought the car from no longer has any attachments to the auto dealer. He used to work there, but has not since December of last year..He still had his dealer liscense from when did work there and led me to believe he was still associated with the dealer. The owner helped me contact the individual that sold me the car. The person that sold me the car is reimbursing me for the repairs I had to make. The owner of TransAuto went out of his way to make sure his reputation was not tarnished. I believe that the owner nor his business had anything to do with the sale of the car to me.

In speaking with the owner and by his actions I believe him to be an honest, reputable and outstanding business owner. I have also asked around locally, and TransAuto has an immaculate reputation here in town. I would not hesitate to buy a car from them in the future. I sincerely hope that my original post has not caused any harm to his business. Especially since he was unaware of what an ex associate was doing, and using his business name. I will send folks that I know of looking to purchase a car his way, because I now know that he is very honest and sells quality vehicles.

First off, u are probably his wife/accomplice. But if u read correctly I am not slandering Mohammad.  It isnt slander if it is true.

And yes it does make a difference if he is a dealer or individual selling a car. It gives a good insight to his character.  If he misleads about that he will lie about anything. Just like he also lied about the radio. He said it just stopped working after he changed out the battery cable, but it sounded good beforehand.  That was an outright lie because the radio was installed in the dash with no wiring connected to the radio. There were not even wires there to connect it. The radio never would have worked or even turn on in that condition, with no power running to it. He lied right to my face. And then to say that he had the car checked out and all it needed to fix front end shake was tires. Wrong! It need balljoints and control arms.

If you have bought several cars from him, which I do not believe, you are a fool. You are obviously not smart enough or worldly yet ro know when you are being taken advantage of. Some people in this world let people rip them off and either dont realize it or just dont care.

Yes, I did send him a note, affording him the opportunity to try and make this right. He did not respond. Obviously one of these dealers who wants to make a quick buck and hopes he never sees you again. Unfortunately thay isnt going to be the case. As we live and work in the same town. In fact, I know many people who work with him.

He can still try and make things right.  It is not too late. But so far no response from Mohammad.

I admit I am at fault for not properly checking the car out. But that is still no excuse for out right lies, and then not responding or addressing the situation. Especially when I told him I was in the market for a car myself. This one was for my daughter.

You mentioned many key factors that point to you as the person in fault. So why blame this guy? You said u should have ran away, then why didnt you?  why didnt you take it to be checked before buying? Did you ask for your money back? My problem with this is your slandering a man who seems to be trying to make money for his family? who cares if it was in his driveway or at a lot or behind a store, that dont change the fact you didnt take the responsibly to have it checked beforehand. I bought SEVERAL cars from this man and had no problems and if a minor issue came up I called and he fixed it right away or refunded a portion. So yes buyer beware... of what you read and believe. .. it is what it is a USED car and if your dumb enough not to have it checked beforehand then dont point fingers!
