I was contacted by trans-united for a moving quote on april 26. I spoke with a salesman named Josh who quoted me a price of 1440.00 for 3000 pounds of freight, for a move from tucson, az to bowling green oh. Although i gave a complete description of what i intended to move i was very under quoted on the size of my move. i gave them a deposit of $360.00 and made plans for a pick up on may 28th. On may 31, another company came to pick up my stuff. When they arrived the driver recalculated the size of my freight and bullied me into a new contract totaling $2275.00. Not only did i have to pay 60% of this new price (1200.00), but the driver had me make out the check to cash and not trans united. I had no choice with my financial situation but to agree to it. I was told my stuff would arrive in 7 to 10 business days.
I tried to contact josh a week later to check on the status of my move. He did not answer my call for days and when he did answer the call he delayed me for the information for another 2 days. The truck did not arrive until june 16, and when they did arrive, it was again a different company in an unmarked semi-truck. The driver tried to bully me into an extra $140.00 for distance from truck to my bedroom. I refused and refused to pay until all my stuff was accounted for. This was met with a refusal as well. The compromise was for me to pay the remainder $715.00 and they dropped my stuff in the middle of the driveway. The boxes were in poor shape, several pieces of my furniture had deep scratches in them, and it appeared that many of the boxes had been looked through and resealed.
Throughout this ordeal i was reassured that this is how the job goes, that this was the norm and i was overreacting.
