Stay away! You will not make money working for this company.  You will be charged $550.00 for a license that does not cost her that much but she will tell you it does.  You will pay $250 for training (to type) if you quit before 3 months and you will quit when you find you make less than $2.00 a hour.  You will not make $1,000 or more a month unless you put 10 or more hours a day into typing.  You will pay a $50 fee if you do not give 5 days notice (after your 3 mos.) and work those 5 days as well and you do pay for your foot pedal (even if you have one and earphones you can get at Bestbuy or Walmart) You do have to ask for vacation even though you are not an employee.   And you will pay her $6.00 each month so she can pay you!  If you put in an invoice for the 16th to the 30th.  You will not get a paycheck for it until the 15th of the next month!!  But she will charge you $6.00 each month to pay you!  For real!!

This is as much a scam as any other.  They do have work for you but you will spend 4 to 5 hours doing it and make $9 for all thos hours (if that)  You can spend 2 hours trying to figure out the garbeled speech, the bad accents and still only make $1.00 because it came out to one page of type..excuse me $1.10.

Stay Away..Stay Away..Stay Away!  Unless you don't want to make money, you do want to type all day and have no life at all!  If you have children..forget it!!  It is not for working moms!

Working Mom...Not Even Close to Retired

#5UPDATE Employee

Tue, May 29, 2012

I have worked for TEI for more than 7 years and when I started my children were very young.  There is not another company out there that will allow the flexibility and the earning potential of Transcription Express.  When I started, things were very different than they are today...there was driving to and from the office every day, tapes would break, sometimes it was not fun.  But the benefits of working from home for a company that gives you 100% support completely outweigh any downside.  Today times have changed and with the digital system and no more driving required, it becomes even more profitable.  I would dare any mom with small children, grown children, retired or whatever to find a job that allows you to work the hours of the day that fit your schedule and make WAY more than minimum wage.  Not to mention the flexibility of choosing how much work you do.

This job is not for everyone, and everyone is different, but for those who can handle it and be organized and disciplined at home, need flexibility yet want to make money, this is definitely the way to go.

Oh yes but

It is an expensive "gig"  to work for them and you notice it is a retired person supplementing their income.  If you are a mother with young children good luck.  You will find you cannot do both and make any money to speak of and then at the end of the year you can pay the taxes on your income after you have paid TEI all year to pay you each month!

Good luck and maybe when you retire you can afford to work for TEI!

This is a business opportunity...

You need to realize that this is a business opportunity and you're not an employee.  Being a business owner calls for investments in time, money, blood, sweat and tears.  I have worked with this company for over 10 years now and love the opportunities it affords.  It has allowed me to be work from home and be with my family, work while I travel and supplement my retirement income.

While this might not have been the right opportunity for the person who wrote this report, the person shouldn't insinuate that Transcription Express is a scam.  Terry and Darren Hurst are honest, hard-working individuals who provide an honest work-at-home opportunity for a lot of people.

Yes, it's hard work, but I find it rewarding turning in a quality work product and getting paid for it.  If that's not your "gig," don't try to ruin it for those of us who make an honest living from it.

By the way, I am not related to the Hursts, nor am I a personal friend.  Just happy to be doing what I'm doing.
