Transit U.S.A., Formerly US-1 Van Lines Of Florida, Inc. Transit Usa Theft! Miami, Florida
Back in May, when I had my merchandise picked up, I was told that the
movers would show up between 8pm and 9pm to pack and move my things.
Prior to this I had been speaking with my sales rep Anthony. I advised
Anthony that I will be packing some of the items myself and the rest
will need to be packed. I also advised Anthony that I will be adding my
comic books to my move. I told Anthony that I will pack them myself and
that there should be no problem for the movers since there was so many
to pack. I packed my comics into 2 large flat plastic crates and 1 extra large plastic crate
and other smaller sized plastic crates and stacked them up. The movers
showed up after 10pm and were not aware that they needed to pack my
things. I advised the mover that I had packed what I could and that the
only thing he needed to do was the kitchen and the bedroom for dishes
and glass objects. The mover introduced himself, asked for the payment
which was half installment of $400 plus dollars.
He had me sign the
paperwork before he started loading everything. He went over the
insurance policies with me and at that time I told him everything that
is valuable I packed myself and was certain they would not get damaged,
and that they were too heavy to be stolen. I then pointed at the
plastic crates of my comics, and signed the paperwork. The mover
advised me that I needed to watch him tag everything with his sticker
gun and make sure he logged it on the paperwork. I watched him tag
everything in the living room and dining room; among these items were
my comics that I had packed myself. They were listed as items #129,
#130, #134 all saying PBOW (Packed by owner) The entire first page was
done before he started moving things out of the apartment, he wanted to
do this a room at a time. When he tried to pick up the boxes I had
packed he then told me that they were too heavy and that they would get
crushed. I argued with the mover and told him that 2 of these crates
were flat plastic crates and it didn't matter if they got crushed or
not, I also advised him that he was the one putting the things into the
truck and that he should not put it on the bottom.
He then told me that
what he will do for me is put them into US-1 van line book boxes so
that they will be better protected and that he will give me those boxes
for free. He then started unpacking the crates I had packed myself and
put them into 12 US-1 Van Lines book boxes. The other two movers with
him asked him to come outside and look in the truck. They left and
chatted outside. The mover came back and told me that I needed to go
get more $$ because I had exceeded my space more than 3times as much. I
argued with him again that I had not and that all of my stuff had
previously fitted into a small uhaul truck professionally packed, there
was no way that the space had increased. He then held up the paperwork
that I had already signed saying that I have to pay half right then
because I signed it. Pissed off I said fine and went to the ATM. I came
back with cash and told him that I can't get anymore out of the ATM due
to my daily limit and that the only thing I can do is write a personal
check. I could not call anyone at US-1 Van lines because by then it was
12am and guess what no one was there. Upon my return all my things had
been taken out of the apartment and NO I was NOT there to verify that
what he wrote on the sheet was accurate. I was not allowed to verify
anything in the truck and when I asked where are the comics you
unpacked he told me they were noted on the first sheet. I told him that
the only thing the first sheet said was small box, med box, china box,
and asked how was I to know what was in those boxes. He then assured me
that since he had been doing this for 14years that he had everything on
this sheet and that I can call Monday to have my order double checked
if it would make me feel better.
I
called first thing Monday after that and NO ONE would return my call. I
spoke to my sales rep, Anthony and explained what happended, he
suggested that I send him an email so he could forward it to his
supervisor. I sent an email June 2nd and NO ONE read it. Anthony did
not forward it to his supervisor, and so I continued to call for 3
weeks. That 4th week I get a call from Lisa who says that she hasn't
had a chance to look at my order and that she will have to check it. I
explained this entire situation to her and requested that my order be
checked and that I get a discount because I did not find it appropriate
that the mover unpacked things I asked him not to and then made me
leave the premises to get him cash, and on top of that he took a crap
in my toilet and left it dirty, only for my apartment complex to call
and charge me; that was embarassing. Lisa told me that she will call me
back after she has checked my order. Two months went by before I was
able to speak to Lisa again. She had not checked my order at all and
then she told me all she could do was give me a courtesy discount
because I felt the mover had wrongfully unpacked my things. Lisa then
explained to me that she wasn't trying t avoid me and that her father
had passed away and she was out for a period of time. I sympathize with
her I really do, but as a professional company why wasn't there anyone
left in charge in her place to give m a call and say I checked your
order and these things are not here. Where was the customer service. I
was denied my right as a customer to speak to ANYONE in charge for
3months, and I was informed, when I asked to speak to Ted, the mover,
that he was no longer with US-1 Van lines.
I get my things delivered and the
movers (different people) show up and tell me to make sure that they
give me everything that's marked on the list. I made sure that I did
that. After unloading everything, the mover attempted to leave and I
stopped them and said, I missing the legs to my couches. The movers
tried to tell me that I didn't have any legs to my couches because they
weren't noted on the sheet. I then threw back at them that nothing is
noted in detail on this sheet, and that why would I have a couch with
no legs. I made them go look in their truck for my couch legs and guess
what there they were in an unmarked box with US-1 Van lines (book
boxes) on it. We opened the box and there were my couch legs. This box
was not noted on the inventory sheet at all and yet it belonged to me.
The mover also brought out another book box with no sticker on it and
we opened it, and some of my comics were in it. The mover then said he
had nothing else in the truck like that and suggested that I open
everything and then file a claim. It took me 2 days to open everything
and I was FURIOUS that NONE of the comics he unpacked, with the
exception of that one box the mover found was there. I called for 2
weeks straight until Allen called me back. He advised that I send a
letter so that they can search for my comics and I did. Allen advised
me that it will take 30days for them to search for me. Allen called me
back 2 weeks later and said that they are gone and that either US-1
gave them away to a wrong customer or they were stolen. I then advised
Allen that I cannot get some of those comics back, some of them were
given to me by my Parents and Grandparents. Allen asked me if I had a
list of them, I said no, but I could get a list of the ones that I had
purchased from the comic shop I bought them from. I have included a
list of the comics with values.
I did not appreciate
the letter I received signed by a John Wagner
in your claims department saying that I never had these boxes and that
I should settle for $63 and leave US-1 Van lines alone. I called that
same day, and no one seems to know who John Wagner is, no one out of
the 7 people I spoke to in September knows who this person is. I
honsetly believe that the initial mover stole from me and I want to be
reinbursed for lack of customer service and denying me my rights as a
customer.
I think it is fair to have full value of these comics
because I strongly believe that the initial mover stole them. There was
no reason for him to unpack them and it's proof in itself that the
mover did not mark all of my boxes due to the fact that I received 2
boxes of my things not noted on my inventory list. I also believe that
since I was denied my rights as a customer for 3 months that you should
pay full value for these comics. The prices are raited via Overstreet Comic Book

fair condition. Fair condition is the second to lowest value for these
comics, and some of them were in mint condition. They stole from me and are now saying that I was never a client!
