This complaint is for Howard Johnson's hotel chain and Travelers Advantage Club which apparently is a sister company of HoJo's(or so I was told by HoJo's customer service). Two years ago (in 2001) I stayed at the Howard Johnson's hotel on Shelburne Rd in Burlington Vt(very nice hotel by the way).

I used my credit/debit card to pay for the stay. Just recently a charge was placed on my account of $69.95 so I called my bank to find out what it was. They gave me the information which lead me to this Travelers Advantage Club.

I spoke with Dianne at Travelers Advantage and she said I signed up for a free 90 day trial and authorized them to charge my account credit card after that by signing some check they sent me for $2.50. Well I never recieved or signed any check.

In fact I've moved in the past 2 years and the post office does not forward junk mail which is what these silly offers are. So now because they have taken this money out of my account, they have caused my checking account to be overdrawn and my electric bill payment to bounce.

My question is why on earth would HoJo's keep my credit card information on file for over 2 years, and where do they get off giving that information to anyone without my permission?
