Travelocity The 100% Penalty Company Internet
It was just after Thanksgiving, almost a month before Christmas. Like most people we began planning for the big day. On November 29 we made a reservation for a one night hotel stay. We decided to us Travelocity and book online. The only mention of cancelation penalty was the following:
Cancellation Policy
FROM 14DEC TO 26DEC $25.00USD CXL FEE APPLIES EFFECTIVE 1800 HTL TIME 26DEC ONE NT CXL NOSHOW FEE
So when we needed to change plans 1 week later, we thought we would be charged $25 and be done with it. The hotel directed our reservation change to Travelocity (as the booking agent). That's when we found out that the $25 charge is from the hotel. Travelocity threatened to charge us a 100% penalty. I asked the Travelocity agent just to move the reservation until February. She said that change would result in a $98 penalty, equivalent to the original hotel charge. No matter what I did, I was to be penalized the full cost of the original reservation. This was with 18 days notice!
Travelocity reserves the right to charge a 100% penalt on any change or cancelation of plans. The part that is illegal is that they don't present that information until after you book you plans.
Don't book reservation through Travelocity!
