It is tough to know where to start.  Travis Lutter is a complete JERK!  Im a mid thirties woman trying to get back in shape, and I heard the best bang for your buck is MMA training.  In the effort of full disclosure I was in over my head, but that did not change my level of effort.  I kept up with the book that he sells you, I never quit on the mat and I never complained...ever.

At the end of three months I decided I was so over my head that I needed to take a step back, and reevaluate where I was.  I had lost weight (5 lbs) I enjoy sushi way too much.  The point is I was not getting the results I wanted.  I thought it best to tell the folks there face to face, that I was thankful but that it was just not for me.  That was the worst idea I have ever had!  Travis walked up, ripped the book out of my hand, told me to shut up and asked his front desk worker why she was wasting time on a quitter?

When I explained my situation to him I was shocked at his response.  He told me that he "hated training women", that we were all criers, and "weak-minded gashes"!  No joke, that's a quote from his mouth.  As I stood their stunned he proceded to tear the pages from my book and when I asked why he was doing this he said that he wanted to prove his point by "making a stupid c**t like me cry" because he "Does not lie" and he yelled that books were only for members of the team.  This is traumatic to even write.

There must be a better option. Do not go here.  I can only imagine the "steroid rage" is not an isolated incident.

I did a lot of internet checking before I tried out Lutter BJJ/MMA. I found several over the top negative reports similar to this and I was very hesitant to even try out  this gym but went ahead and thought I'd see for myself before writing this place off in my search for a BJJ gym. I tried it, liked it, and have now been a student at Lutter's for over 1 year. I have seen no behavior anywhere close to this from anyone at the gym.

Travis, the other coaches, and the students are friendly and very well controlled (as most in martial arts tend to be). I have seen no outbursts, yelling, or threatening at all. People aren't perfect but having known the Lutters and the team for over a year now, this report absolutely reeks of B.S. I can only assume this was written by some spiteful person with a personal grudge who is hiding behind the anonymity of the internet.

We have dozens of women and even more children who are regular members of this gym. There is no way they would put up with that kind of environment. If you are looking for BJJ or MMA, stop by and talk to the Lutters, the coaches, or students and make your own opinion.

first of all i want to say i am only a student here. i am not an employee and have no reason to write this other than my own personal feelings and experiences. I started at Team Lutter 4 years ago this month (april 2014) at the age of 37. terribly out of shape and with an obvious gaping void in my life i jumped in with both feet for nothing more than the love of martial arts and the fear of an early grave. in 4 years i have completely turned my life around and have found myself on a journey that i cant possily see an end to. there is no secrets at this gym or any worth going to. there is only the truth that what you put into this you will receive 10 fold in return. if you are like me, you have joined several gyms in your life and found some results along the way. but always to return to old and bad habits. that has not been the case for me here. i have trained/worked out 5-6 days/times per week since i joined. the only exceptions being when i was hurt and missed a week here or there. there is just too much comoradery and support to not want to show up every chance you get. i had friends after 6 weeks that are still my friends today.. and who still push me to improve.. not only my martial arts and physical fitness, but as a person. and i have, with almost no effort aside from showing up to the gym. since i started my wife has joined and even competed in a tournament.. and won her first one as a white belt! my 16 year old son started 2 months ago. i have referred friends who have joined this gym and feel the same and who have signed up their sons and daughers and spouses.

Experiencing what i have at this gym.. from the children ive seen train and compete and fall in love with bjj to the oldest of us, i cant help but try to bring some truth to this forum. there is no way Travis said the things that this blog has accused him of... and if any of you reading this knows the inside scoop you already know anything negative posted about him or these gyms is straight from a competitor gym and a complete pile of horse s***.
