TRELORA Trelora Realty, Joshua Tree Realty Fired Whistleblower for no reason, then lied to Department of Labor Denver Colorado
This may be a unique Ripoff Report because it comes from a loyal employee who was fired (in my opinion) for trying to improve a flawed system and keep it within legal boundaries. I was fired with no reason given and specifically told at the time of termination by the HR "robot" Katina Lundberg, in front of the Managing Broker, Whitney Sweet, that they would not contest my Unemployment Benefits. Yet a month later I discover how even more unethical they are when an employee from the Dept. of Labor tells me that TRELORA disputed my unemployment because they said I had a foul mouth and “was cursing at customers". Which is an absolute fabrication and low-down dirty ploy. At the rate at which they fired people, I’d guess they just wanted to avoid paying higher Unemployment Insurance.
I'm utterly disgusted with the owner and his management minions at TRELORA. They overwork and underpay all of their employees, maintain a cultural facade that they actually care about people, yet then fire people and lie about the reasons why to save a buck. They cheapen the real estate industry by having employees with no expert knowledge, way in over their heads, attempting to keep up with the crazy demand they generate by doing ads and promotions all over the place. It’s not a sustainable model, unless people are okay with risky real estate consultants… perhaps that’s the case.
Other than the owner, Joshua Hunt, and his best friend from high school, Whitney Sweet (Managing Broker during my employment), I was the only other LICENSED Real Estate Broker hired to work in a company of over 14+ employees. They are fortunate I didn't report them to the Real Estate Commission after discovering that many of their $10/HR employees were doing the work only a licensed broker is allowed to in the State of Colorado.
TRELORA prides themselves on saving the consumer money on the sale of their home by only charging a Flat Fee for full-service real estate services, however their business model is flawed. It's not the same full service that people would expect. Obviously! I witnessed that they could not handle the volume of business they need to survive without bending the rules. When I asked questions about it, I got ignored usually or treated like I was a cog in the wheel.
Secondly they recruit people who specifically have no real estate experience at all to train because the owner feels that buying a home is like buying an Apple computer or a latte at Starbucks (both analogies the owner Mr. Hunt used all the time). Well, when you become “transactional robots” and have no sensitivities to the emotions of your clients (and real estate is a very emotional purchase which needs caring hands)… then maybe you can liken it to a computer or latte purchase.
With TRELORA, customers are handled, not genuinely cared for. Like anything else, you get what you pay for. And if they can treat one of their own “family members” who worked 70-90 hrs/week for 2 months straight with not a single day off (yes, that’s me) the way they did, it doesn’t look well for how they will treat one of many of customers banging down the door for discounted flat-fee service. After all, they’ll just move onto the next customer. They Ripped Off two months of my life, and have mishandled many customers along the way. I highly encourage anyone who wants personalized and top-class service to go to a REALTOR.
Afterall, TRELORA jumbled up the word REALTOR just to smack in the fact the ethical, hard-working Realtors who work for their friends, families, referrals, and the people they care about, giving them specialized care. REALTORS have kept your mortgage interests tax-deductable when the tax code is being constantly attacked.
TRELORA can say what they want, but for Mr. Hunt – it’s about his ego and his money. I’ve never met a man with such an ego who talks about humility so much! He puts on a good show, even crying at the board room table in front of the whole office about how he’s going to change the world because he cares. But I don’t see someone who fires a very hard-working loyal employee with no reason and then lies about it to the Dept of Labor as someone who cares about people, at all. I see someone who wants to save (himself) money and entice others who want to save money. Mr. Hunt is TRELORA.

I am so glad this employee spoke up. I recently had a real estate transaction with Trelora and felt that it was the biggest mistake we ever made. The things that this employee claimed are true are definately true from my experience. The staff at Trelora are undereducated, overworked, short tempered and not helpful. I was appreciative when I spoke to an employee that seriously appologized for the poor quality service. Joshua Hunt seems to be the only one doing work ... who is registered to do it and therefore the only one that can call you back. I was wondering how someone who is so young and unknowledgeable about Real Estate could be the head listing agent (Joshua's girlfriend). We are telling everyone we know about the bad experience so they don't get suckered. We ended up losing a lot more money using Trelora than we would have spent using a seasoned, knowledgeable Real Estate Broker. I agree, this business model is not sustainable. Trelora will not last. You get what you pay for!! A good Real Estate agent can become a life time friend ... Trelora is fly-by-night.
