Complaint Description:
Tri County Electric is charging a late fee if payments are received by mail on the due date. If the payment is due and arrives on on a day the company is closed they charge a late fee stating the payment was received after the due date. not giving credit for the arrival of the payment until the next day they are open business. If they have the payment is due on Monday and the payment arrives on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, the payment is not credited as arriving until the next day they are open for business. Late fees are determined by the amount of payment due. also if a typo of a few cents is made the full amount of the late fee is required by them. Tri County has offices in Sumner, Macon, Trousdale, Clay, Overton, Counties in Tn. and Allen, Barren, Monroe,Cumberland, Clinton, Metcalfe, and Adair Counties in Kentucky. I am only aware of the above practices occurring in Macon County, I feel sure they are occurring in the other locations as well. If so this should also be corrected!

Desired Resolution:
Change polices giving customers credit for the payment received on the day it is received. If a typo is made then only a percentage of the amount not included be charged not the full amount, of the late fee. As it is now if the late fee is $10.00 and the payment is $0.10 short they charge the full amount of the late fee, $10.00 this should be corrected!

Can't you read?

Report:
Can't you read? It says plainely, payments made on due date or made on weekends and holidays not credited as arriving on due date..

 They have I might add corrected this problem we were having, of them not crediting payment when it arrives.
 I do not however know if they're charging full late fee if you're two cents low on your payment. Why don't you try them and find out?
 One can now set it up to make payment on whatever date is accetable.  So if my comp-laining did this then, what complaint do you have?

Also;
 I'd like to bring out that they overcharge the customer in order to give monies to charities of their choice..;
Question:
 Why when the used to refund the overcharge to the customer, once a year, do they now give this overcharge to favored charities..
Do not misunderstand, if you want to donate your money to your favorite charity, do so. Just don't take my money by force, misreputation or threats, to give to someone else.

Companies like this one are preying on people, low or without adequate funds to pay the improper fees and having no recourse, other than pay the corporate demands, or live without utilities. Tri County Electric has monopolized this area and this should be corrected !
