I drove my Jensen Healey to a Resturant to meet friends for a surprise birthday party. There was no parking spaces available so I circled and ended up parking in a hotel lot across the street. I saw no signs warning of a tow zone.

Later when we returned to the lot, our car was gone. I went to the front desk of the hotel and asked where my car was. The security man gave me a printed paper off a pad with the tow company phone number. I called and was told I owed them $192.50. and had to make an appointment to get my car back. After many hours of waiting at the business address, the tow driver showed and took my payment.

When I got to my car I noticed the radiator was leaking and my seat belt was adjusted to twice my size. I told him it wasn't leaking last night and he said, "Do you want it the hard way or the easy way. You better take your car now, there's a station five blocks down the road with water".

I started the car and it didn't sound or feel right. I got it down the road and the transmission was grinding, the motor had no power, and the rear end was noisey. I had to stop at every station on the way home to refill it with water. I also noticed the odometer had an extra 30 miles on it, and then realized they were out joyriding in my car and trashed it.

I called them and told them about it, and they of course denide any responsibility. I am now stuck with over $2,000.00 worth of repairs. Also I believe the hotel is getting a kick-back for every tow.

While they may have SCREWED up your car by towing it. The miles could have come from the TOW itself. If the Back wheels are moving & it is in GEAR the Speedometer will work & the ODOMOTER will accrue miles. This also could have been what screwed up your car. But you need to take responsibility also. You parked your car ILLEGALLY. The Hotel Parking lot is PRIVATE PROPERTY & you did not have permission to park there. They had you removed. And even if they get a Kickback from the TOWING COMPANY what is wrong with that. Once again YOU PARKED ILLEGALLY. Take responsibility !!!!!!
