It was my turn in the hopper a few weeks ago. The nice lady called me with the nice offer (internet shopping spree, coupons, "credit coach," the whole spiel), the way she did for all the other suckers. Not for a minute did I ask why/how she got my number.

Well.

After giving her everything but the family jewels, the nice lady said a "package" would be arriving in the mail. About two minutes after I hung up, *then* the alarm bells went off. And off to the bank I went, to stop payment on the check. Not the end of the story.

The $139.99 payment went through anyway, but was bounced back for lack of funds (which is kinda odd; since I was told $129.99 by the nice lady. No wonder the stop-payment didn't work). Now it's three weeks later and they're at it *again*. And it got bounced back, again, for lack of funds (I got bills), leaving me with a negative bank balance and ever-mounting overdraft fees.

Thanks, TFS!

My question is, how do you dispute this? The CSR at the bank suggested that I "contact the merchant." But,let's get real, folks, TFS is not about to let a fish off the hook (they don't even answer their phones), let alone come clean.

And how do you put a stop payment on a company that can pretty much hoover your bank account *at will?*
