Triple Advantage Experian Call release if recording - but they are? Internet
Attempting to cancel my subscription to freecreditreport.com before I get a monthly charge. Got usual sell-ups etc, finally said would process my cancellation, then asked if I was recording the call. When I said I was, she said she would have to release the call and hung up!
I called back and explained what had happened, she explained it's company policy, I can't record the call (but the opening message says they can monitor or record all calls!). I asked to speak to a manager and agreed to shut off my recording.
Supervisor came online and restated the same policy (even though I actually had turned off the recording) said she would have to release the call and hung up.
I still don't know if my account is cancelled or not, and I can't find a physical address to send a registered cancellation notice to.

Actually, I've worked for several call centers where they tell us if we are being recorded that we are to advise them they need to turn off the recording, or we are to POLITELY end the call. In this day and age of business 'cover your a*s', they want to be the only ones in charge of the recordings.
Of course the easy solution is just to not tell them they're being recorded. With all the underhanded, illegal crap they pull, I wouldn't even give it a second thought.
