I am filing this report on behalf of my Mother-In-Law. She purchased one of the sewing machines from Tristar Products. Upon receipt of the unit unpackaging and setup, the unit would not work.

There was no invoice included providing information regarding product returns. All information on the exterior of the box yielded no phone numbers.

Attempts to find a phone number through the website led us to the ripoff website, hense I am filing this report. Basically we are trying to return the unit for refund, but do not know where to start.

I, too, purchased a Sew Smart and when it arrived I was also surprised by the lack of information sent with the product. When my husband and I read this report, the first words out of my husband's mouth was "That's exactly what you said....no invoice, return labels or Customer Service numbers to be found!"

Although I was not impressed by the Sew Smart, it DID work -- the first time I used it, that is. It has since performed poorly, then not at all. The needle refuses to go up and down in forward OR reverse. The ONLY information I had to work with in the way of any customer service was to look up "Tristar Products, Wallingford, CT" on the computer and what I found did not surprise me considering the condition of MY machine! I was led to your site. After reading Cheryl's letter and with a little more digging, I found the 'TV Inventions' website -- out of ALL their products, they didn't even list the Sew Smart!

Finally, I must admit that, at this point, I have not contacted Tristar about my broken machine. However, thanks to the phone number Wilson provided in the 'Customer Suggestion' segment of the original report, it is the very next step towards satisfaction concerning my situation. I plan on advising them of this letter, per your Rip-off Report guidelines, and will report back to you with any answers I'm given.
