Tristar Products ripoff consumer rip-off fraud Wallingford Connecticut
I bought a stem buggy from a local dept. store about eight months ago.I was steaming with it when steam started coming out everywhere.It blistered my arm and foot when I dropped the hose because it was so hot.I got the little book and tried to find a address or phone number the only thing in the book was a place to order accessories.
When I could not find anything in the book I went to the net and found a recall on the steambuggy,but there is no information on where to send it or who to contact about it.I called one of the net shopping places and they gave me a fax number for Tristar I faxed them a letter but have heard nothing.

That Wallingford, CT. address is BOGUS. In months of writing, I have never received any response whatsoever, and they are not even listed in any Wallingford Business, or Phone Directories. Also, Customer Service (if and when they answer their 1-800 phones) refuse to give any Corporate Information out.
Their real Corporate Address is:
Tristar Products, 4 Century Drive, Parsippany, New Jersey, 07054. Tel: 973-683-1000, Fax: 973-683-1001, and I did receive a response within 30 minutes from their Email Address (although that may be just a scam response too, it remains to be seen, but at least I received a quick response, which has never happened before.).
Their Website, as they show on TV, http://www.tvinventions.com is really owned, and registered by Tristar Products, and there is no information on that Website as to their Corporate information. Their Corporate Website really is http://www.tristarproductsinc.com and their Email address is info@tristarproductsinc.com

CPSC and Tristar Products Inc. Announce Recall of Steam Cleaner
PRODUCT: Steam Cleaners - Tristar Products Inc., of Parsippany, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 3100 Steam BuggyTM Deluxe Steamers. The recalled steam cleaner is blue plastic and measures about 12 inches long and 8 inches high. It has a 5.5-foot black steam hose connected to the water reservoir and comes with various cleaning attachments. HSN LP (Home Shopping Network) sold the Steam Buggy Deluxe nationwide December 2001 through January 2002 for about $129.
PROBLEM: The internal hose connected to the trigger in the handle can detach, allowing hot water and/or steam to escape, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
INCIDENTS/INJURIES: CPSC and Tristar Products have received reports of 305 incidents, 214 of which involved consumers receiving burns to hands, arms, feet, and body.
WHAT TO DO: Consumers should stop using the Steam Buggy Deluxe immediately and contact the recall hotline toll-free at (800) 858-1173 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to receive information on how to ship the recalled product and get a replacement or refund. Tristar will pay for all shipping charges to return the product. For additional information visit the HSN LP's website at www.hsn.com.
Purchasers of affected units were sent direct mail notification of this recall.
