Complaint Review: Tropical Sails Corp.

The ex-employee who posted above confirms that Daniel Oppliger overcharges debits on his clients credit cards hoping that the charges won't be noticed.

She said that she was one of his female assistants and says that he provides female assistants to his male astornomy tour clients and that these assistants make a lot of money and that these assistants are foreign.

Reading between the lines of this posting makes it apparant that Daniel Oppliger is supplying prostitutes to the male members of his tours to make them happy. Shame on him!

And in addition, he overcharges the debits on his clients' credit cards hoping that they won't be noticed. Shame on him!

This assistant seems to know everything about Daniel Oppliger and tells us that Daniel Oppliger is bad news!

Daniel is a nice man. He's an excellent businessman in making additional money. Daniel does bring his wife on many cruises. His wife use to be an assistant on the cruises. When his wife is not along on a cruise, the foreign assistants are constantly at Daniel's side. Daniel's side business isn't disclosed to many people. The astronomy assistants can make lots of extra money helping with the gentlemen astronomer requests during the cruises. Daniel operates in cash, never makes credit card refunds, and overcharges on most credit card debits that's rarely noticed.  I'm not surprised that Daniel wouldn't refund the New York astronomer his money. Daniel employs the best attorneys that nobody can beat. Daniel has many young foreign ladies that work for him as assistants. I use to be an assistant for Daniel.  He kept shorting me on my pay so I stopped his cruises. I work for another cruise line assisting astronomers and freelance assist with astronomers. Now there's no problems with checks or tips being correctly accounted on paychecks.

you are also creating false information. I am not a man and everytime we travel with Tropical Sail/Dan Oppliger I've found male clients number less then females.
Most of the participants are usualy couple and family. Dan also join this tours with his wife. We do never saw any female asistancy that your hallucination creates .  
You must be very angry for not working any longer with Dan. Do you really think you can insult us as traveler and Daniel Oppliger in such a easy way.You are not doing well to yourself by trying to accuse this very descent and family oriented tour company and its cients.

As I read this Daniel Oppliger is providing women to lonely astro amateurs with an abundance of alcohol to result in shooting stars for everyone which in other parlance means "happy endings."

Is Daniel Oppliger running as astronomy tour or a whorehouse for lonely astro amateurs? The above poster seems to know the answer.

The above person should be ashamed - calling me a liar and dishonest is outrageous when the facts are clear - Daniel Oppliger cheated me as fully explained in the above posting. This person is a rogue.

I am not a liar and I am not dishonest - I was cheated by Daniel Oppliger and it seems that he has mistreated other potential clients as exemplified by their ripoffreport postings. He has a total of four ripoffreport postings.

One must wonder who this poster's parents were and where they came from to have instilled such outrageous and poor moral values in them to make such false accusations. Shame on them.

I am customer of Tropical sails and Daniel Oppliger since last 15 years and have received many wonderful services in a great budget from them.
Daniel Oppliger who is the owner of Tropical sails has wonderful and very descent way of offering his services. We always have fully understanding of the given services and extra expenses when we purchase tour from Daniel Oppliger. We travel with Tropical Sails frequently never heard and/or witnessed unhappy customers. 
We always get perfectly enough information about the eclipse and astronomy. Anyway almost all of us experts of the astronomy and followers of the eclipse.
I think Daniel should sue this liar and dishonest person for  attacking him in such a low manner.
no one should be walking away easily after such a badly set up criminal offence

Your clients may be happy with Tropical Sails but I am not. I was cheated by Tropical Sails. 

My name is Philip Seldon and here is my tragic story:

Daniel Oppliger, owner of Tropical Sails Corp., had a hotel charge my American Express card for an unauthorized charge. This charge was in excess of his brochure price. I told the hotel that Daniel Oppliger was a cheat and a crook and that he overcharged me. The hotel agreed with me and gave me a refund of the difference between what he had them charge me and his brochure price. Daniel Oppliger is a disreputable businessman, a cheat and a crook.

Here's are the details:

Tropical Sails, owned by Daniel Oppliger, advertised a Transit of Venus tour in its brochure for four nights with three breakfasts, a Luau, porterage, taxes and an event shirt for $469 per person double occupancy and $769 single occupancy at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui, Hawaii. The transit was on June 6, 2012.

I signed up for the single occupancy for $769 for four nights with the Luau, taxes and event shirt only to discover that Dan had the hotel charge my credit card for $921.69. And I never got the event shirt promised.

I never authorized Dan to have the hotel charge my card, only to have Tropical Sails charge my card and only for the $769. I was overcharged and cheated by Daniel Oppliger who earned a hefty commission from the hotel.

I asked Daniel Oppliger to refund me the $152.69 overcharge in an email and got this email response:

"Phillip,
You are Royal Lahaina's client, not ours. Please direct your concerns to them and do not contact me again. You have wasted enough of our time and we should bill you for reservation and other services provided. Thank you.

I was not Royal Lahaina's client but Tropical Sails and I never made my reservation with Royal Lahaina. I had not heard of Royal Lahaina before dealing with Tropical Sails. Daniel Oppliger is a cheat and a scam artist as you can see from his response above. He had the hotel charge me $921.69 for the four nights that he advertised for $769. Daniel Oppliger is a crook.

Considering the hefty commission Daniel Oppliger earned from the hotel he could easily have refunded the $152.69 overcharge but he chose not to do so preferring to cheat me. He is a disreputable businessman and a rouge.

If you want to go on an astronomy tour for a Solar Eclipse or to view the Northern Lights I recommend that you consider the trips by MWT - MelitaTrips (www.melitatrips.com) or Sky and Telescope Magazine or Astronomy Magazine or the other tour companies that advertise in these two magazines.

Tropical Sails Corp has sent us many clients over the years. We have never had a problem with Mr. Oppliger or the pricing.  We at Medsail Holidays have many programs with various prices which may be confusing with some consumers.  The packages vary to way each boat owner decides to do things.
