I am not really certain if this is a scam, but the customer service is outsourced. I went to check my checking account balance this evening and saw that there was a charge for $9.95 from some credit report thing...I had to look up the 800 # to figure out who it was.

I then called the # and realized that it was for the Truecreditreport.com service that I had cancelled just days after receiving it in July (2006)...I had some man who could barely speak English tell me that I was in the wrong and did not cancel the service. I plainly told him that I had cancelled well within the 30 trial period and wanted my money back right now.

He then proceeded to tell me that I had just accessed my credit report on the 20th of August...I yelled NO! I had not accessed my report since the 20th of July...(today being the 22nd of August)...I told him that I wanted my money back right this instant and that if I didn't get it I would call my atourney and the Better Business Bureau...He did not seem amused and still repeatedly kept telling me that I had not cancelled the service and that I could not get a refund for services not rendered.

I told him that if he didn't get his supervisor on the phone that I was going to call the cops and make a report. I finally got the supervisor and he asked for a cancellation #. I said that I was told that I did not have one as that I was told that I did not need one. When I had called in last month to cancel the service within the free trial period they just said ok, that is all you need...No number, no nothing...I was like ok...Great, that was easy...

No such luck. The guy told me that he was going to credit my account out of courtesy and that I would not be eligible for any more credits from the company. I said make sure it is cancelled and we won't have this problem again!

I had to wait 5 minutes for the credit to go through and I was told that it should be posted back to my account within 24 to 48 hours. I asked what happens if I don't get it by then and he said to call back in with the cancellation #, of which I now have one by the way!

Word of advice would be not to use this crappy service and if you do, I would make darn sure that you get that 4 digit cancellation #. Believe me it is more of a hassle that it is worth.

True Credit Report Is Definately Not a Scam

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sat, October 14, 2006

This site is awesome. I like searching names of companies to inform myself and to also find out if anyone is saying anything negative about companies that I'm already involved with.

For example, True Credit Report. I can tell you right now that I have had my share of problems in trying to work something out with logging in and communicating with reps, but people need to understand that this is sensitive information that has to be handled very careful especially if they're wanting to do it online.

I am glad that, if I screw up and was only given 3 chances to give the correct info and then get locked out of my account, the company asks me to contact them to verify if it was me or someone else trying to access my account.

This is what I have to say to those who are skeptical. If you don't trust the system or believe that it is safe then please don't sign up and complain later if you just don't like the way things are turning out.

It is done for YOUR safety. I was a former member and now a member again of True Credit Report.

When I called them to cancel there were no problems. I called them way in advance and they emailed me confirming my cancellation.

I canceled because I wanted to try a different credit reporting company and after a few months of being with them I realized that True Credit Report was much more user friendly and easy to understand.

I believe that these unfair reports about this company are from people out there who are just looking for FREEBIES and then want to complain and get their money back.

I've been a memeber to a few credit reporting companies out there and True Credit is the best in my opion. For the 3 in 1 deal I get all reports from the major credit bureaus plus my credit scores.

Don't jump to conclusions when you see these reports of people making a fuss over $9.95 or $19.95 and all they have to do is read very carefully what is on the webpage that they signed up for.

If you're looking for a freebie then write to the credit bureaus and ask them for one, here are their address to request them:

Equifax
P.O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374

Experian
P.O. Box 2002
Allen, TX 75013

Trans Union
P.O. Box 1000
Chester, PA 19022

You're allowed a FREE credit report from each of these companies at no charge to you except the postage.

I would report this company if they truly were a scam and charged people large amounts of money and never answered calls or sent emails, but they have a professional support team that is more than willing to work with anyone.

There are people who may not help you as you would like them to, but no company or business is ever perfect.

I will say this again, True Credit Report is not a scam.
