Complaint Review: Trufffoire

I stopped into this store as I needed some face cream to last me a couple of days while traveling. I purchased three products ($350) that (surprise) came with a complimentary $500 facial. In no way did I believe I was going to get a $500 facial but scheduled for the next morning nonetheless thinking I would get some type of facial. I wasn’t surprised that I had walked into a high-pressure sales event. Condescending at its’ best. They size you up by looking at what you are wearing so they know if you can afford or not. I saw him look more than once at my diamond and he named the brand of shoes I had on. He knew I could afford their products. The facial is a joke. Nothing facial about it at all.

I was told the ‘facial’ was 40 minutes. When he first gave me the price of the products ($5000), I told him immediately I had no intentions of spending $5000. He then left the room to see if he had money in his budget to reduce the cost so he could ‘work’ with me. He seriously thought I was buying his schtick. He came back with the price now at $2500. I had no intention of buying these products but thought I would wait him out and see how long the hard sell would continue. The 40 minutes turned into 1.5 hours while leaving products on my face. Basically, held me hostage. He kept asking me the same questions over and over and over and staring at me waiting for me to say I would purchase. He made it sound like I should be honored to work with him and I am thinking this guy is a joke.

The location, China Town in San Francisco, so shoppers beware. One of the guys giving away samples on the sidewalk was wearing Louis Vuitton shoes so hawking cosmetics on the street must pay quite well. 

When I did not buy, the atmosphere turned very icy. Mission accomplished for me.
