TruGreen Scam billing practices Rochester New York

I used this company for a one time deal last year to spray my trees, as my landscaper said that I had insects. I honestly do no know whether they did a good job or not.

This year, a TruGreen guy showed up at my door unsolicited and told me that he was here to spray my trees again. I told him that I did not ask for this service again, I don't need it, and to stop coming to my house without my permission (I was pissed). As far as I know, he left.

They billed my credit card for $338. That really pissed me off! I just called them and was told by a "no-customer service" representative that they didn't have anyone available to talk to me and that they would call me back within 24 hours (yeah, right) or I could call back later.

Complete rip-off company. Should be indicted or sued.

They apologized for "accidentally" charging me without my authorization and without any work being done. They acknowledged that one of their technicians came by and that I refused the service and that I signed something that verified my refusal. "Somehow," they said, they charged me anyway.

They told me that I would be issued a refund on my credit card. I will update again when I get the refund.

So far I am happy with the resolution (assuming that my refund is issued in a timely fashion or at all), but I still think that this company is a ripoff and I would NEVER use them again. The technician came by my house as if I solicited him, which I did not. And there is NEVER an excuse for a company "accidentally" charging your credit card for services not received and in fact specifically refused. How many people will not realize that the charge was made? I am not even comfotable with them having my credit card number and I might change it.

Word to the wise: Don't give a company that you do not fully trust your credit card information, or even your checking account information, if you can help it. If you have to, better to give them a check than your CC#.

BTW, this was the Rochester, NY branch of TruGreen.
