Just like everyone else that has been to this website, I was also taken for a credit card scam that sounded like a great opportunity to get a credit card and improve my credit.

It all started in December when I received a call from a woman stating that she was from Trust Benefits and that they were offering a credit card with a $2,000 guaranteed limit for a one time fee of $299.00. She told me that I should be receiving my card in the mail 10-15 days from the date my money was to be withdrawn from my account which was Jan. 5, 2004. She said I could cancel at any time and get a full refund.

I gave her my checking account info and then she tranferred me to a man who ran through a list of questions and asked me to hold my questions until the end and just give a simple yes/no answer.By the way, this was all being recorded. So, I did. After I spoke with the man, he transferred me back to the woman and she confirmed eveything as far as the date the money would be taken out and when I should be receiving my card.

On February 3rd, I called and spoke with a gentlemen who said that because of the holidays and being backed up in the shipping dept, my package was being dalayed. I asked them if they could track it and they said that I could call back next week b/c my info had not made it back from the shipping Dept.(YEAH RIGHT). So, again, I called back on February 9, 2004 and asked again when I should be receiving my credit card.

The gentlemen said,"Credit Card, we can't send you a credit card, we are not a bank, That would be illegal, don't you think. We send you a package of infor that helps you get a credit card and build your credit so you don't have to use company like us again".

Anyway, I could go on and on about this bogus credit card offer, but I would just be waisting my breath.

MY ADVICE TO EVERYONE: Take action and report them to as many agencies as you can. CAll your news reporters and tell them wahat is going on. IF you have not been able to get your money back, I suggest you do what I did and call your bank and let them know what is going on. My bank was very helpful with this and they are in the process of investigating this as fraud.

Good Luck to Everyone and I'm Sure we all Learned a Great LEsson from this. "Don't Give Your Checking Account, Credit Card, or SSN out over the phone, and always request something in writing"
