For convenience sake, I took my brand new Mazda 3 to this site for simple oil changes. The car isn't but 9-10 months old and I wanted to ensure I kept the warranty up so I changed it regularly at Tuffy. The last time, the oil filter was installed improperly and the oil all leaked out all over the under carriage. The engine failed and now needs to be replaced. After having Mazda engineers verify the problem, I went to Tuffy for a resolution. Tuffy isn't any help. While they can't say they didn't do it - they won't do anything about it. I am paying $270 a month for a brand new Mazda paper weight and Tuffy is goading me to take them to court rather than step up and resolve the matter with integrity and fairness. Savea buck at Tuffy but spend a fortune fixing what they broke!

File directly against their insurance, here's how

#2Consumer Suggestion

Never deal with the idiots in the local shop, or the company "adjusters".

Stay off the phone. Make all of your demands in writing, via certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# in the body of the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. Now you have proof of exactly what you sent.

Now for the fun part.

1. By the means above, file a complaint with the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services which is who issues licenses and regulates repair shops in the State of Florida.

2. Contact the above agency by phone and ask for the name of the insurance company of record for the specific licensed business entity.

3. By the means above, prepare a letter of claim to that insurance company.

4. Keep records of all of your losses. Every nickel. Alternate transportation, certified letters, missed time from work, phone calls, faxes, EVERYTHING.

Itr gets better. You can stand on an adjacent property and tell all incoming customers of your problems and be sure they turn away from the shop and go elsewhere.

I would find a small towing company and pay them by the hour to tow my car to that adjacent lot and leave it hooked to the tow truck and put a sign on it saying "Here's what you get when Tuffy works on your car" or something of that nature.

You might also want to contact an investigative news channel to cover the issue.

There are many options here, but you MUST remain AGGRESSIVE and IN THEIR FACES every hour of every day that you possibly can.

Tuffy is a franchise operation. Contact the franchise owner.
