I went thru the Federal income tax free e-file tax process. it filled in the state return form, I was not given the option to skip that, when it was done with the state ortion it asked would i like to e-file that return for a fee of $29, i clicked the "no thanks" button.

When it got to the end it asked for my credit card info, I assumed it was for future use since I wasn't told I would be charged anything.

BAM! I was charged $30, come to find out they were charging me for filling out the state form.

Since I was NOT given the option to skip it I was ripped off.

...but would you not agree it was totally avoidable?

By you "assuming" the credit card info was for "future use", whatever that means.. is the whole point. If you would have REFUSED to give any credit card information...I can not see a way they could have charged the account.

Please do not take this as insulting or as I am trying to pass the blame of this obvious rip off from the party responsible to you as the consumer..but these f**king snakes are out there...the ONLY defense we have is common sense....no account information submitted, and no unexpected surprise charges will show up. Sad to say..that is the current state of affairs we have to deal with.
