First off, let me start by saying that i've always wanted a turtle, so i was very excited to start my project. I have a lot of experience with fish and tanks and i was ready for turtles because i wanted to study them as i am a self proclaimed herper. First, i ordered two turtles on a friday morning. I wanted overningt shipment so i gladly paid the 30.00. No arrival the next day. My turtles were 30.00 a piece and i payed for overnight and because i wanted a boy and a girl i had to pay 3.00 extra. My bill was 97.00.

I was upset they did not come the next day. Yes yes, there is fine print to everything that most people do not read, but don't let me pay for overnight knowing that it is not going to be so. I e-mailed and got no responce and I even tryed calling and nobody answered, and the voicemail was full so i couldnt even leave a message. So, my overnight delivery came 4 days later on a tuesday. I opened up my package and both turtles were packed together in the same little container. They were placed together like an oreo cookie stack so that one of them was upsidedown the whole trip with bedding for a rabbit smashing them in and holding them in place.. Belly to Belly.

I emediatly knew this was messed up but i thought maybe the turtle that was upsidedown is fine. So I have everything set up and all is well on my quality of tank and water temps. It is all perfect as all of my tanks are. I put one turtle on the basking rock (male) and jumps in the water. I place the female (the one who was upside down) on the basking rock and she does not move. This is typical so I let her be. When i got home from work she is in the same exact spot so i have a seat in front of the tank and she is barely moving so i check all my temps and all is great.

I knew she was dying. The male is having a blast swimming around and she is up here dying i thought to myself. I got on their website to see about how they do returns and it says that the return policy is shipped with the animal but I did not receive one. So I emailed them about it. About 10 minutes or so after i e-mailed them about my dying turtle I looked over and i just knew she was dead. I went over to the tank and she was sitting there. As an animal lover who has lots of experience you just know. I picked her up for an inspection to be sure, and she was dead.

I put her back on her rock just to look at her and apolagise to her and tell her about how cool her tank was even though she never got in the water. I e-mailed them again to inform that she did endeed pass away and i again gave them my order number and requested the information required for a return because i was not mailed any of that. Still waiting on a reply. I am one of the administaters for an online group revolving around aquatics and exotics and i feel obligated to stear all 400 of my members away from Turtleshack.com

I finally got in contact with turtleshack and they told me to mail the turtle back to them frozen. Because they wanted it frozen i assumed they may have wanted it to return that way so i payed to have it overnight back to them. after doing so i did not here back from them for almost a week. I finally called and talked to a male associate who was not very helpful at all. He told me that they could only give me store credit for the cost of the animal. So i payed 30.00 for the animal and 30.00 to have it shipped and another 20.00 to ship it back and i would have to pay another 38.00 to ship the new one back to me. How it changed to 38.00 to ship the new one to me... i don't know. I told him that i couldn't rap my head around the concept as to why they would completely rip me off like that and he told me that i was the one who chose to ups it back to them. I explained that they requested it to be frozen so i assumed they would want it to arrive that way. His exact words to that.."Nope, thats just so it doesn't stank". That would make scence if it didn't stank' after thawing back out. I just told him ok, and i hung up the phone. Unsettled, I called back because i was going to give him a piece of my mind but a lady answered this time and I explained that i had been talking to a male named Mike. She asked if i would like to put him on. I said no, that i'd rather talk to her. I explained to her my situation and she informed me that Mike was correct and i told her that i just did not understand why they would do that to me when i trusted them to provide the good service that garantee. Keep in mind she was so nice and kind the entire time.. She told me that she would see if there was somthing she could do for me and that she would e-mail me with a solution that would benifit us both. A couple hours later i got an email from her telling me that she had spoken to her boss on my behalf and that she was in my corner. I then got another e-mail from the company that gave me a code for store credit of my entire purchase. So i got reimbersed for both my turtles and shipping. That was great because i already had one healthy turtle and i was now going to order two more. This means that they basically gave me a free turtle. The solution for somthing that would benefit us both worked because i have desided that i will indeed continue to purchase from then. All because the female who i spoke to. Thank you for the resolution.
