A young female came to the door and said she lived at a specific address in our neighborhood and was home-schooled. She was a memeber of the home-school volleyball team (the type of team varied from house to house) and was trying to help her team get to Hawaii to participate in championship games.

She was selling books and accepting donations for books. If she earned 2000 more points, she would not only get her trip free, but she would be helping other teammates.

The books ranged in price from $38 to over $60, with and additional $12 for shipping/handlling. As an alternative, for $76, five books would be placed in a children's hospital or battered women's shelter.

She was very excited during the time, friendly, and courteous. She left the neighborhood soon after one neighbor told her that she was not welcomed and what she was doing was not acceptable in our neighborhood.

She had been to our home several months prior to this. I was out when my husband told her because I had the check book with me, he would call me as I was on my way home. She left quickly after insisting that he did not have to make the call!
