My wife ordered the TV series "Ally McBeal" on DVD. When delivered 1/2 of the dvds would not play. Contacted tvaddicts several times with complaint and told a new set would be delivered each time I spoke with them but never received it.

When I tried to call the customer service again I was told to leave a message and my call would be returned in 48 hours because they pride themselves on customer service, never received a return call.

You didn't say how you bought the DVDs. Is there an email you can use for them? This is what happened to me, and how I handled it.

I bought some DVDs from unforgettabletvshows.com, and I got home-made copies of a TV Land marathon straight off the TV - with terrible labels, duplicate DVDs mis-labeled, a smashed case, and missing episodes, - some of which were the reason I most looked forward to seeing again. (I bought the "entire Carol Burnett collection" - which, of course was a lie and I didn't get)

I was fortunate because I had an email to write to, complaining about their promises versus what I actually got:

how many episodes I would be receiving vs. what I actually got
weren't professional DVDs, but mere copies off a tv marathon
the case arrived smashed
the DVD color insert was a faded picture off a computer printer
not only plain, printer-printed labels, but mis-labeled duplicates

I copied their promises from their website into my letter and contradicted it with what I actually received.

I told them I wanted my money back - as these were fraudulent and bootlegged, and I would also be sending the letter (and phoning) my credit card company to dispute the charge, and posting the whole thing to this website.

They credited my card within a week. I expected them to have me return the DVDs, but haven't head another word from them. I did let my credit card company know about it, too. I didn't post it here because they did refund my money.

I really expected a bigger fight, but I guess they want to continue to scam more people, because I know most people wouldn't have done what I did. A lot of people are afraid to admit they've been ripped off. I get pissed.

I've learned my lesson - just order from a trusted source for DVDs - or go to Newbury Comics or a store that carries used DVDs of your favorite series or movies. There are too many scams on the internet, and it's so easy for people to copy shows off their Tivos with all the fancy DVD copiers nowadays. I thought I could save a little money buying all the Carol Burnett shows - never expecting to get such a load of crap - because I hadn't seen anywhere else to buy her DVDs. Now I will just look for the real DVDs at the places where I shop for legit stuff. It's not worth the aggrivation the internet brings with the millions of scam artists there are out there.

Good luck, and continue fighting with them. They are obviously a rip-off if they ignore you and don't back their product. Just threaten them with a report on this website and see if you get any action!
