I very rarely ever do this, but I’m writing this review to tell everyone to avoid Two Men & A Truck of Beaverton, Oregon at all costs.  If you’re looking to hire a local moving company, I would strongly advise that you hire someone else.  The management of this franchise is dishonest and unresponsive to customer concerns. They do not listen, they do not return phone calls or answer e-mails.

In May of 2018, I hired Two Men & A Truck to move my wife and I out of our apartment in Clackamas to our new home in Happy Valley. I booked the move nearly a month in advance of the closing date on our new home--while I was booking the move and going through all of the usual questions/preparations with their new receptionist, I warned the receptionist that the driveway to our new home was narrow and did not leave much room for error, and that their crew would need to take extra care in getting their truck safely into the driveway of our new home. The receptionist indicated that she would make a note of my concerns.

When the day of the move arrived, things initially went well, and the move was proceeding on schedule.  Everything was moved out of our apartment and we met the movers at our new home to start moving in.  However, before we left our apartment, I warned the movers, again, that the driveway to our new home was tricky and that they needed to be careful. When the movers arrived at our new home, they were not careful, and proceeded to execute what amounted to a 12- point turn with their massive truck, driving all over my driveway.  I would have been willing to ignore this, except that as they were turning their truck and trying to align it so that the back of the truck could face our garage, they drove off the driveway at least twice, onto my lawn.  I knew I should have said something then, but I was distracted because there was so much going on.

Beyond this, everything seemed to be going well and we were moved into our home in about two hours.  However, two days later, I discovered that in driving their truck off my driveway they had completely crushed a sprinkler valve and flooded part of my lawn.  They had also managed to crack part of my driveway.  All told, this cost me nearly $1100.00 to fix.  What’s worse is the fiasco that came afterward.  I discovered the damage on a Thursday, and proceeded to make at least five phone calls and send several e-mails trying to get somebody from the company to come out, look at the damage, and discuss possible compensation.

I couldn’t even get anybody on the phone until the following Tuesday, and in the interim, one of the managers at the company, Eric Tremble, and another manager at the company, came to our home to inspect the damage.  The problem here is that we didn’t get a phone call or an e-mail that they were going to come, and they did absolutely nothing to make their presence known when they did arrive, even though my wife and I were both home.  They came onto our property without advance notice and without our permission, essentially trespassing.  The other problem is that since it had taken them almost a week and several phone calls to finally come and look at the damage after it occurred, by the time Eric and this other employee finally showed up to do their “investigation” all of the damage had been repaired and cleaned up.  At this point, Eric Tremble expected me to trust his assessment of the damage, told me that it couldn’t have been his employees and denied me compensation.

I filed the paperwork to take the matter to small claims court in May of 2018, and after an unsuccessful mediation in September of 2018, finally got the matter in front of a judge in October of 2018.  The judge ruled in my favor and found Two Men & A Truck liable for half of the damages.  It is now December 1st, I have yet to receive my payment, and am now in the process of turning the matter over to a collection agency.  So, if you do decide to hire Two Men & A Truck, be aware that they do have a civil judgement against them in Clackamas County, and be aware what you might be getting into when you hire them.

I’ve moved several times in my adult life, and I’ve hired several moving companies, both local and long-distance.  Moving is stressful, and things inevitably got broken or lost.  My primary grievance at this point lies with the laziness, dishonesty, and general lack of professionalism on the part of this company’s management.  If Two Men & A Truck had made a competent and good-faith effort to assess the damage and deal with these issues in a timely fashion once it was brought to their attention that the damage had occurred, I probably would have let the entire thing go and not even bothered to take them to court, and if they had simply paid me the damages that they were ordered to pay by Clackamas County, I probably wouldn’t have even felt compelled to write this review.  So, like I said earlier, if you’re looking to hire a moving company, look elsewhere, these guys are a joke.
