This company showed up to move a 7,000 sq.ft. home to Knoxville, TN.  Had given us a quote and then went up on the price. We were in the process of building a home and therefore had to put most everything in storage.  While unloading to storage, they broke a crystal and glass chandelier and assured us that insurance would take care of it.  After new home was complete, we moved all our items out of storage.  It was then that we discovered just how much this company had destroyed.  Furniture scratched, china and crystal broken, and two many items to list here.  After the discovery, I contacted the company and they informed me that they do not accept claims after three months even though it had set in storage.  After many months of fighting with this company the only item they agreed to pay for was the chandelier at 1/8 the original cost.  The people that work for this company are more interested in how much they can get out of you for a tip than they are in being careful with your belongings.  They are a ripoff.  They destroy things you have worked for all your life and then refuse to pay or offer you a pentance for what it's worth.  Do not use this company!

UNANSWERED OFFER!

As General Manager, I have offered to resolve this complaint in a manner that is consistent with expert retailer opinion. I sent the following E-mail, as of this writing unanswered, in response to the complaint:

We regret that your item was damaged. We stated at the outset that if you could produce proof of sale or a receipt, which you said was in storage, we would give full cash value of your chandelier in its entirety. That offer will remain open by my statement here if you can find some proof of sale.

To recap: we took your chandelier to the Hermitage Lighting Gallery to see if we could get a match or close to it. They stated that they had sold similar chandeliers in the past, but that they no longer carried those types.  We asked if they could repair it and they could not due to the unavailability of the necessary parts. We also asked Hermitage Lighting Gallery what they thought regarding its value as was presented to them. They estimated $200-$300.

We then scoured the internet through www.chandeliers.com to find a match and could not. We did however, find two items that were closest in appearance to yours, never claiming that they would be a match. You presented an image to us of one you thought closer in appearance. I do not believe it is the closest in appearance based on my sighting of it in this office.

You have stated that your chandelier, minus the hanging crystal, is all glass. Then that is what I am willing to reimburse, since no crystal was damaged. Is it possible to send us a photo of the crystal that hangs from the chandelier?

I still do want to resolve this matter through compensation, indeed that is your intention. I am also prepared to use the knowledge and statements from all involved here to answer any defamatory charges you put before the BBB, FMCSA, or any internet site. I will use these same statements, with witness testimonies, to defend our A+ rating with the BBB. We have not had an unresolved complaint through them in almost three years, so I guess we're overdue.

Still, I hope you can find the receipt or proof of purchase for your chandelier, minus the crystal, so we can fairly compensate you for the damage we caused. Otherwise, I will offer the top end $300 that Hermitage Lighting Gallery estimated it to be worth.
