I hired Two Step Tax 'Manny Katz and Zvi Shapiro to manage a tax settlement with BOE that never happened and ruined my life. I paid them monthly filled out paper work and I was assured they would stop levies and collection actions while they negotiated with BOE, it got worse than ever my account was levied to where it was closed. My other account was wiped clean 4 times putting me in a very difficult situation facing eviction and more. I found out when I pressed them that they never even have had correspondence with anyone just sent in paper work and made some calls but over 7 months there was no result. My life has been nothing but stress for 8 months now. They finally said they had reached a settlement and that BOE wont take any more money. Today 3/11/16 the BOE wiped out my account preventing my from paying all my bills and left me with nothing again. I was in better shape when I handled my account alone, Two Step Tax has ruined my life now and the BOE is going after my business now, soon Ill have nothing and be in the street thanks to Two Step Tax and their lies.

Here is the email they sent me while I was thinking we are finally negotiating and I can put this behind me.

Hi Steve,

The good news is that they won't levy you.  I finally spoke to the agent.  She is not the sharpest tool in the box.  I went at her for being derelict and totally irresponsible and leaving no contact information while she was away.

She had nothing to really say.  But came back at me and said I used the wrong form.  I said that was the form she requested.  She had no clue on anything I sent. Her first look at it was today with me on the phone.

She wants us to fill out the form attached.  i filled out most of what I can do on my own.  Please go through and fill in what is missing and sign and date.  Also, if you look at the first page verify that all those documents were sent that are applicable to the case.

Truly and Sincerely yours,

Zvi Shapiro, CPA & Enrolled Agent, MBA

Withdrawing all the comments in my initial complaint of Two Step Tax

After a few months I learned the issue was not with Two Step Tax it was at the Tax Board and how they switched agents and ignored the contact that was trying to be made on my case. Two Step Tax was doing what they said they were for me and my rush to judgment was wrong, I am working with Two Step Tax and they are helping me deal with the Tax Board. Therefore, I withdraw all the comments in my initial complaint.

False Complaint by delinquent Non-Cooperative Client

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, October 11, 2016

I just came across this false complaint and wanted to respond to his false allegations. First and foremost, customer satisfaction at Two Step Tax is our highest priority and we strive to do everything within our power to ensure this. Our dedication to providing the highest level of service is reflected by our A plus rating with the Better Business Bureau along with our AA rating with the Business Consumer Alliance. However, there are some clients that no matter what you do to try and help them, they refuse to cooperate and instead try to hurt you with false complaints. The client above has misstated the facts in order to hurt our good name.

The client came to us to get help with a tax debt to the BOE. He continuously fought us when we asked for the documents and information needed to get him into a settlement agreement. The reason the state levied his accounts was due to his failure to provide the documents and information needed for months. We warned him multiple times of pending collection action and what was needed to stop it, and he ignored our requests/ refused to provide information until the state agent got fed up and took further collection action.

The client as well threatened us with complaints if we did not work on is case even though he stopped paying us for the service. We offered the client a full refund after being threatened and he instead wished for us to continue. To prevent what we felt was a very delicate situation from getting worse, we continued and held off the remaining balance of his payment until the settlement would finish.

The client even attempted to file a complaint with a third part review service which they immediately rejected and did not file since it was recognized as harrasment and not a legitimate complaint. We also obtained an email from the client where he stated his desire to withdraw his complaint. Rip-off report is a wonderful tool for consumers and business alike. Unfortunately, in in this situation the consumer is attempting to use it as a blackmail tool for false allegations. If rip-off report reviewed the complaints and gathered the information from both parties, they would have rejected his slanderous complaint as well.

The client states that we told him we had reached a settlement with the state. That is false. The process had been started, and we are waiting on them to approve the case. The process can take from 3-6 months usually depending on how long it takes for the state to approve a file. We informed the client of this as well. All communications from the state were explicitly told to the client so he would know the status.

Two Step Tax does all we can to help our clients, but without the cooperation of providing the necessary documents and information it prevents us from keeping our clients protected and ultimately resolving their tax debt. This is also clearly stated in every client service agreement so our clients know their responsibilities of responding to our communications, and providing the necessary documents and information.

It appears the complaint was updated in July, which means although we were working his case at this point for free he still felt the need to try and hurt our company. I reached out today to try and speak with the client and his phone is no longer in service.
